Good Afternoon Everyone, and Welcome to my Journal!

I've been a member of the forum here on ANIMAPAK for a while now, but have been lazy in actually visiting, posting, etc.
However, with the upcoming Arnold and recent release of the latest series for The Cage, I've been re-inspired to visit these parts and have decided that I'd like to become much more active in the community here on the forum.

So, I figured what better way to start getting involve then start up a journal!


A little background...
I'm a former Marine, turned aspiring NPC competitor.

When I first get into the health & fitness lifestyle, my dream was always to compete in Men's Physique, having looked up to guys like Steve Cook and that "aesthetic" style of physique..
...but then I got smart lol (only kidding to any of you bodybuilders/physique guys out there)


After recently experimenting with Jim Wendler's 5/3/1 program, I quickly realized just how much I loved the feeling & raw power of powerlifting. Chalking up, getting under the bar (or over it) and throwing around as much god damn weight as humanly possible!
So I've quickly changed pursuits and am now in preperation for my first ever powerlifting meet on March 28th.


I will be competing in the APF @ 180lbs, with targets of 400/300/500.
Current maxes are 370/315/455.

3-Week Structure

Putting in this last week following the Candito program, then going to go ahead and basically run through a mock meet next week as my last heavy week of training to get a feel of where I'm at for all 3 attempts on each lift, as well as see how my body responds to the lift order and fatigue.

Final week will be a deload just training each lift once/week and doing light volume work up to my opening attempts and calling it a day.

This makes for an all time 1RM for me, and my first time squatting 4 plates.

Came up just shy on depth due to having a headphone falling out on the bottom motion and distracting me. Will likely limit my 3rd attempt at the meet to 400# simply to ensure I have no issue getting to full depth.

Actually attempted conventional first, and was a bit closer than this attempt, but the recording came out all phucked up for some reason the camera zoomed in to around 5x just before the lift, so it was unviewable.

Anyways. Pretty humbling experience here.
Been a while since I've actually failed a lift attempt.

Oh well. Live and learn and keep on grinding. I'm hoping come meet day the adrenaline will be enough to help me get over the hump and get the final pull.

I'm feeling comfortable with 300lbs being a 2nd attempt on bench, and hoping it'll easily leave room for 315-325lbs on my closer.

Between that and squats I'm hoping to make up 25-30lbs on my total, so I can possibly hit a 2nd attempt at 470-480lbs on deadlift, and even if I fail at 500lbs I'll still hit 1200 total for the meet.
