I like a simple 5/3/1 program.

Run some smolov with your "max" weights kept low, so that you don't kill yourself too soon.

take them slow, train your squat and lower accessories right and your deadlift will feel it.
Stick to the basics. Compound movements, good reps, and good food from the nutritional standpoint. If you are getting back into things from a long break any program will give you gains so just find one you like or that you think makes sense and that you will stick to. That's the one you should start with.
if you are worried about deadlifting and getting hurt be sure to pay special attention to the posterior chain and hit it with a fair amount of volume even very high reps help out very much in preventing injury.
