well brothers and sisters- i am about a month out from a contest, my first contest. i'll be finishing a dead program about 5 days before the contest and there is my question should i be taking the week off before hand?- i've never really needed to recoop more than two days so far after this workout - and any general advise would be appreciated

I'm not too sure about this myself but for the 3 competitions that I've done so far I've taken at least 6 days off before. Some people disagree and do a couple light workouts the week before but I'd rather be fully rested and take that time to make weight and get myself mentally prepared.

I think it's safe to assume he means he's doing a powerlifting meet since this is in the powerlifting section! Didja get lost?!

I would wear underwear if I were you. You'll feel very "out there" if you don't, singlet's aren't exactly the thickest material and very revealing on the bench. Unless you are wearing a singlet like Borat...

As far as training, the last week I generally do a chest, dead, squat workout on the Monday before but insanely light. I personally don't go over five reps for a few sets with 50% of my max if that. I just do it so it's not almost two weeks since I've done the exercise and to set my head straight. You don't want to get sore from this and then you want to do nothing workout-wise for the rest of the week.

Good luck bro, you'll see that powerlifting is a fun and very addicting sport.
