Hey fellas,

I'm taking a break from school (and thus the sweetly cheap University gym) while waiting to get accepted into a doctoral program. My pregnant wife and I are living with my folks to save money until August when we go to wherever accepts me. Money is obviously an issue (baby's due in June), so I'm restricted to a home gym/bench (that fortunately has a pulley system) for now. I think I've got most bases covered, but I am a little concerned about legs. Would you mind taking a look at what I've devised for a split making due with the equipment I've got? Thanks in advance, bros.

Monday: Chest/Abs
* Bench
* Incline Bench
* Incline Flyes
* Push Ups
* Weighted Crunches
* Ab Lounge (it's my folks', and it's fun for the novelty)

Tuesday: Back/Calves
*Bar Rows
*Pull Ups
*DB Rows
*Pulley Rows
*Deadlifts
* Uh, loading up the bar across my shoulders and doing tiptoe raises for frickin' ever. Training calves with home gym equip sucks.

Wednesday: Shoulders/Traps
* Mil Press
* Side Laterals
* Bent Over Side Laterals
* Bar Shrugs

Thursday: Bi's/Tri's/Forearms/Abs
* EZ Bar Curl & CG Bench
* DB Curls & Pulley Pushdown
* Preacher Curl & Skull crushers
* Wrist Curls
* Grip Squeeze-thingees
* Same Abs as Monday

Friday: Legs
* Squat
* Lunge
* Quad Extensions
* Ham Curls
* Stiff Legged Deads
* Same Calves as Tuesday

Any suggestions? See any holes? Feedback, as always, is appreciated.

Evaniel, your routine looks pretty solid to me, especially for a home gym system. Another idea for calves is to bend over and have someone straddle your hips, while you brace your upper body on something. Use a sturdy 2X4 or similar piece of wood to stand on, to get a deeper stretch in those calves. A couple pointers for your other bodyparts, if you have something to do pull-ups on, then hanging leg raises can be your best friend for abs. Arnold presses for shoulders are one of my favorites, personally. Peace out.

Yo!

It looks good to me. If you have a stair in you house you can do dumbbell calf raises, Arnold style! . You can then focus on one leg at a time. And your hole bodyweight and the dumbbell is lifted by one calf. So you dont have to do endless reps! Good luck! Peace.

the only recommendation i have would be on the bis/tris. great exercises, but have you ever tried bis first then tris. I also used to do supersets of bi and tri exercises but recently switched and found i get a much bigger pump from doing bis first.
but thats just me, stick to whatever gets you a better pump

Considering what little you have to work with, that looks like an awesome split bro... Make the most of what you've got, bust your ass and you'll end up way past what the average slacker can attain with the best equipped gym. Peace, G

Nice. This is exactly the kind of stuff I'm looking for. I'm DEFINITELY gonna give this one a whirl.

I just may go back to this; I always supersetted at the gym not only for saving time, but to get stuff done in an area more efficiently before moving to the next. Now I can kind of spread out, and pre-set all of my bars and weights, so I'll give this a try. If it delivers a better pump it's worth it. If not--hey, it's still good to switch things up.

Thanks!

Hey! My first reply from G. Nice. And what you say here pretty much embodies the mentality I've taken since moving here and getting back in the game after struggling with some bunk-ass elbows.
