As many of you who read the journals in Power Trip already know, deeder and I will be competing at CPU Nationals this year in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.
Deeds is a 75kg Junior competitor (ages 19-23) with a couple contest under his belt, he will be lifting almost completly raw at Nationals with the exception of knee wraps and a belt.
I will be cutting down for the last time (thats the plan anyways) to the 90kg weight class, as a Junior lifter. I will be lifting in full gear (single ply, IPF) with the exception of the deadlift, in which I lift with just a belt.
I've made this thread for the purpose of keeping you all on par with deeder and my own progress; with our flights from Western Canada, to the banquet afterwards. I'll do my best to keep you all posted on our progress over the next weeks time.

Its been a fairly long day. Reason being, I'm entering panic mode, I procrastinated to get myself to this point. The bench shirt was ordered a little over a week and a half ago, I got it several days back...and, its way too small, ripped a seam taking a light weight down too a 4 board. So my new shirt is on express order and hopefully I'll have it by Monday, mastering it in 2 workouts will be another story.
Several drawbacks have come forward in the past few months causing a low turnout from my powerlifting club at this years Nationals, our potential team of lifters could be almost a dozen, but only 5 will be going this year. Three 90kg Juniors, one 67.5kg Junior and a 125kg+ Open lifter.
My good friend who is a 67.5kg female lifter dropped out from the competition earlier this week after realising she would fail in making weight, she was qualified as a 75kg lifter but the stresses of being a female powerlifter tore deep into her ego. For someone who used to be a National quality wrestler, competing at 62.5 kg, powerlifting has increased he strength tenfold, but as a few pounds have been gained, it has also taken a toll on her self confidence. Regardless I am very proud of her, with just 6 months experiance and 2 comps under her belt she has regestered lifts that would make many a male lifter jealous (275-210-303 lbs).
Thanks for putting this up here bro! I'm dropping some last minute weight starting today. Just pulling the carbs back a wee-bit then I'll dehydrate a bit on Thursday before I weigh in. I don't even know if it will be necessary to dehydrate myself but I'd rather weigh in alot below 165lbs than not make weight!
My biggest hurdle is going to be the time difference. Lifting starts at 9:30am and I believe it's a 3 hour time difference for both of us. Correct me if I'm wrong... That means that weigh-in will be starting at 7:30am. WHICH MEANS that I'll be up probably around 6:30 aka 3:30 in the morning my time!
Hopefully I can drastically change my sleep schedule real quickly! I'll do my best to tire myself out when I get to Halifax. I plan on heading downtown and checking things out before I head to where we'll be staying.
My girlfriend is lending me her camera so we'll have videos of all of our lifts up at the lastest the evening of the 3rd (the day I get back). Possibly the night after each of us lifts if our host doesn't mind me installing some stuff on his computer.
Well, it's 4am right now. I have to check in by 4:40am. My flight leaves at 5:40. I'll be getting to Halifax International around 3:30 N.S. time and heading in to Dartmouth to wander around for a bit before I meet the guy who's letting Jawn and I stay at his place. I was going to go to Halifax for the afternoon but I'll leave that for the days after I lift. Plus I don't want to be doing the tourist thing with my backpack and duffel bag with me.

Got one of the powerlifters that wasn't attending Nats to drive me to the airport, got there around 3 am. Flight left at 6, so I wasted time reading some nutritional script from one of my favorite dieticians.
Ended up meeting Chewie (one of the other pl'ers from the club) in the airport, we just happened to be on all the same flights together, so that made shit a whole lot easier. We flew from Edmonton to Calgary, Calgary to Ottawa, Ottawa to Halifax, got picked up at the airport at 4:30pm local time.
We checked in, got out shit together did a mock weigh in...I'm 92.2kg...so I have two days to lose 5lbs of water weight, not a problem.
I happen to live in NS so I came home for the night...but I'll be staying at Petes or the hotel for the remainder of the comp. It was hard to leave, we've pretty much taken over the hotel and the atmosphere is awesome. I drive out tomorow morn at 6am to watch the blind, female (all categories) and sub-junior, as well as help spot, take some pictures etc.
I'll throw some of the better lifts up somewheres if anyones interested.

ya throw them up bro. i am always interested in seeing the numbers.
The women and sub-junior men lifted today. There was some pretty good lifting! One really crazy chick who was Jawn's favorite and some DAMN strong boys!
I lift tomorrow morning and I'll throw my results up tomorrow night sometime. I won't be able to upload the videos until I get back to Regina though because I forgot the cable for my gf's camera.

Thats a bunch of energy expended right before having to lift.
get some rest.
Good luck
Well here's the results (and excuses) from my first national competition. I was REALLY disappointed with the squat and bench but fairly happy with my deadlift.
Around xmas I was about 187lbs and I competed today in the 75kg weight class (165lbs). The weight loss, especially the last few kilos really killed me. My squat suffered so bad that I dropped my opener 20kg and got flagged on my second and third squats. Bench wasn't the greatest either because I was in a ****ty mindframe but I managed to pull myself together for the dead.
Here's what I managed:
Squat - 155kg -- Like I said, ****ing brutal. No energy, even less strength.
Bench - 105kg -- Ugh...
Dead - 215kg -- Pulled this in the gym about a week ago, glad I was able to hit it again considering how poorly everything else had gone. I would have liked to try for 220kg but 205 felt pretty heavy.
All in all, I'm really disappointed but I guess I'll take it as a learning experience. I'll be getting into some equipment over the summer and hopefully I'll blast away all my previous PR's at provincials in the fall.

Dont be to hard on your self bro...it take ball just to enter and lift in those meets. Your number are awsome and now you know what it's all about..next time around you will be more prepared and will kick some serious ass...great job and keep your head up...

Don't even worry about it dude. Like you said it was your first time at Nats. You will have plenty of chances to make up for it in the future. Dartmouth is a long way from home too so I am sure it was tuff for you to get ready to lift after that long flight and the time difference. I didn't make it out to see you lift which sucks but atleast I got there today. It was my first time at a PL meet and I think I am officially hooked. There was some big lifts and even got to see a few guys set some world records. Can't wait to get out to see some more stuff like that.
As a side note I found out earlier this week that Hugo Girard is looking to make his comeback to strongman in early June right here in Nova Scotia. I really hope that he does. It would be amazing to see him lift. He is my favorite strength athlete of all time.
