I hope this is in the right section, if not, my apologies. If any of you guys are looking for some motivation for lifting, check out the current issue of Flex. There is a good size article on Andy Bolton and him setting the world record deadlift. It gives his courent routine and a beginers guide to deadlifting. It definately made me want to lift. Its almost as motivating as SGT Rocks "Diary of a Blue Collar Bad Ass" Im not a fan of the mag itself, but my girl bought it for me when she saw "1005lbs Deadlift" on the front, and she knows how much I like that lift. You wont be dissapointed.

Oh man Andy Bolton and Benedikt Magnusson are going at it with each other trying to beat the world record. But it has been done over 1000 lbs. Thats crazy.

It was an incredible lift regardless of federation. The deadlift remains as the only untampered lift in powerlifting.

It wasnt untill I read this article that I realized how the deadlift had no negative movement to the exercise, it nothing but a pure raw power movement.
I was wondering, and anyone can answer this. In a competition, if you were allowed to start with the weight at a dead hang, instead of on the floor, would we see higher numbers? I know when I deadlift, I always start from the floor, but the second and third rep always seem just a tad easier than the first.
Thanks and good luck on your own personal journies.
Yes, if you started from a dead hang it would be a lot easier as you can build up the stretch reflex and momentum to increase the reversal strength vice being zero reversal strength in the way it is preformed now.
After the bar hits the floor, let go of it, regrab it, and then pull if you're pulling for reps... It'll make it a lot harder
