That's great and all but this forum is for Animalpak. We don't need nor want this forum to turn into just another bb forum and talk about every supplement under the moon.

Thanks

Is xrep the thing that is like a wannabe dc training?

Iron_Man
01-15-07, 6:18 pm
no its not. i just posted the topic for people to say what they thought abt it if they tried it. its a techinque tht shocks your muscle to new growth. its a good kind of training if you hit a plateu.

never tried it myself, but a trainer at my gym hit it with no results. he tried it "by the book" then changed it a tad, but nothing.

What exactly are Xreps then?

I probably know it by another name...

really?`well tht sucks, butt maybe he might have been doing it the wrong way.
anyways this is how i got my arms upto 18" big.
i used the cable curls. i used to be lying down on the floor doing them, so as not to strain my lower back and cheat. then id do my reps until failure, then once i reach failure, id only curl up the negative part. short pulse like a piston.tht shit burns like a fucker.but it did the job. i did for almost amonth n saw great results. i still do it today but i mix it up
hope tht helped

Hey IronMan, do you have an X-rep routing for your lats or tips on how to implement X-reps on your back routing? I've read some tips for biceps, triceps and chest but nothing on lats.

Iron_Man

yeah morpha...on lat training always after failure do half reps form the top to midway down. thts the negative part of the movement and thts when xreps work, after failure. keep on doing short pulses piston like fashion, and a word of advice. its gonna burn like a fucker.

I suppose this in lat pulldowns.... but what about on barbell rows or db rows, do you also apply the X-reps?

Iron_Man

depends bro. bc empahizing too much on xrep is bad. just choose a certain excercise on back day n perform it. id advice on the lat pulldowns or chins..cos width is your first priority!.then thickness which comes easily when doiing heavy deads.
hope tht helped

I have tried the x reps. Not exclusively in my routines, so i cant say whether they did or didnt make a difference. But i think most bodybuilders use them whether they know it or not. Who here works to failure on a set like benching, and pumps out a couple half reps, or on chins once they hit failure goes up halfway for a couple then hangs there for a stretch. I do on the last set for every exercise its feasable on. I think they work best on cable curls, and calve exercises. But i think the x-rep program advertised is crap. No 3 min bicep workout will work imo. Also they charge you for routines, which we get here for free.

king....listen dude...id never pay to buy a routine...its stupid...why should you pay to buy a book...i didnt..but your wrong bro. xreps do work...n in my opinion they only work if done the correct way...i tried it and its really hard as it burns like a fire...but hey thts life..to make gains you gotta get through the pain! but in my books, xrep do work if you want to shock up ur muscles etc.

Their actual program is what a lot of guys already do... as far as the rep and rest cycling goes. A lot of other programs have emphasized the "X" postion of a rep (stretch point, partial reps, etc.) already. Iron Man Magazine is a huge advocator of that X-Rep stuff and I almost tried it... but any routine you have to pay for most likely won't do a TON more than something you can conjure up for yourself with some common knowledge and message boart chatting.

I think x reps have really helped add size and they give me an insane pump. Everyone is different though.

I know this is an old post, but I found this link pertaining to this ...

http://bodybuilding.home.insightbb.com/trainingarticles/xrepstaticcontraction/

I tried it on my bi's last week and was sore in them the next morning, something I haven't felt in a while. It's a weird/awesome feeling because at a point I felt my fucking heart beating in both of my biceps. It may not work for everyone...I've read another article that says this type of training works better for people predominately slow-twitch (I'll post that link when I find it again), so just like almost everything else in this sport, it works for some and not others.

I Just Started Training Routine 6, But I Added And Changed Some Things. Instead Of Barbell Curls, I Do Cable Curls. Instead Of Front Barbell Presses, I Do Behind The Head Barbell Presses. I Try To Use An 8 Rep Rep Range. On The Third Set Of The First Exercise, I Try To Pump Out 8 Or 10 Partials. On The Third Set Of The Second Exercise, I Do One Rep Followed By A Partial Rep And Then Another Rep For 8 Reps. On The Third Set Of The Third Exercise I 2 To 4 Drop Sets.

All I Have To Say Is That This Is The First Week That I Have Been Doing This And My Arms And Legs Are Just Killing Me. It Feels Great. I Noticed Great Pumps And I Know Its Just The Pumps, But My Arms Are Looking Bigger Already. I Will Keep You Guys Posted Through The 6 Week Program To Let You Know What My Final Thoughts Are On The Subject.

I'm a big proponent of x-reps. They have worked very well in making my workouts much more intense and have brought results for many. I'd recommend that everyone at least try them. If they don't work for you, well then at least you know. If they do though, it could make your training much better.
