I was in the gym tonight training chest. I stretched, did my warm up sets and everything the same as I always do. do to problems with my shoulders and elbows learned the importance of warming up properly a while ago. anyway, I was starting my first work set which I was just going for 10 good reps, I mean I wasn’t pushing any insane weight for myself or anything. I lowered the bar after my 4th rep and when I proceeded to push for my 5th my left pectoral just tore...it hurt a bit and sounded like a wet sponge being ripped in half. Im going crazy because I have no idea what the hell im gonna do. I have to go back to the doctor tomorrow to get it checked out again and to see just how serious it really is but anyway I was trying to get ahead and figure out what I could after that. I mean obviously I wont be able to train chest for a little bit and probably also shoulders. Iv worked really hard to get to where iv gotten and I don’t want it to just waste away. Any suggestions on what I could do in the gym to at least try to maintain the other muscle groups while this heals? Also, is there anything that anyone has in mind that I could do to prevent this from happening again?

Buddy of mine tore his peck off his sternum. All the friggin way off. He was down hard for six months. I say keep it simple. I've never had a serious injury, but I'd think you'd be better off coming back slowly and pacing yourself, rather than pushing it and reinjuring or making it worse. Shit happens. You'll come back bro.

Yep surgery, arm in a sling for quite a while all that. Messed him up. Have you seen the movie, "The Guardian?" He's the big bald rescue swimmer. Good friend of mine. We were stationed together in Kodiak. He's back at it now, flying again and back in the gym.
