View Full Version : Kinds of tuna
Can someone tell me which kind of tuna is best for you? I like the Albacor in water and the Chunk Light but thats all Ive ever had.
Apparently chunk light has the least amt. of mercury. Personally, I prefer the solid chunk white Albacore as it has more protein/can and tastes better.
I eat the chicken of the sea chunky tuna... IMO tastes the best...

I eat the chunk light... It is cheaper and goes down the hatch easier. Although I think each variety tastes like shit. Peace, G

I usually try to buy chunk light tuna in water(reduced sodium), but i can't always get a discount on it, so then I buy whatever I can get a discount on.

light or yellowfin is definitely better. Lower levels of mercury same amount of protein and a lot cheaper. It's pretty nasty though. I prefer albacore bc of the taste. The differences are probably minimal nutrition wise.

Also consider canned salmon--high in the good fats, and of course protein. Taste is different and a nice change of pace.

I prefer the chunk light tuna such as chicken of the sea, etc. It's cheaper and economical.
p.s. I would avoid bumble bee as much as possible since they tend to shred their tuna in pieces. They come out and taste like nasty looking after the water has been drained.

If I can get there that is the way to go. I just found some bumble bee solid white prime fillet on sale, pretty good, as far as tuna goes.

That's what is in my cupboard right now, but i can only get it when i go home for breaks from school.
Probably the one & only intelligent thing my high school professor said was: food is you fuel, would you tank diesel in your benz car? Not to offend anyone, but I find it hard to understand that a person would go through all the sacrifice and training to achieve a certain goal and at the same time buy lesser quality food because it's cheaper.
Another thing: I do eat tuna canned in olive oil (the only fat I take in) because I read that olive oil is good and I do drain it before putting it in my salad. Would it make a huge cutting difference if I ate tuna in water?
