Looking to see some serious gains from you bro. Looks like you got a good foundation to start with, just by looking at the big 3 numbers. Thanks for checking in on my log, I'll be sure to do the same with yours. Give it all you got, Animal Strong!
widdlewade44
05-01-07, 2:40 pm
Currently using a 5 day split, on more of a bulk and strength gain routine. My routine is based on TR #10 from the AOM (Animal Manual) but I have taken the liberty to modify it for myself.
•Session #1: Chest/Calves/Abs
•Session #2: Legs
•Session #3: Biceps/Triceps/Abs
•Session #4: Hamstrings/Back/Calves
•Session #5: Shoulders/Traps/Abs
I’m not currently doing either Flat bench (with a barbell) or Deadlifts. I am going to add the ‘Big Three’ (Bench, Dead and Squat) to my weekly workouts in a “testing” format, i.e. , each week during the course of the 5 workouts I will test these lifts for a heavier lift in each for a maximum of reps. I’m not fond of actual 1 rep maxes b/c of the injury threat. I do anticipate that the reps and weight will increase for me during this next 3+ weeks in each of these three lifts.
Questions and comments are welcome. I'm starting off with Session #1, recap to follow. Peace.

I’m not big on measurements; having said that I wanted to really see how this HMS supplement run goes.
I figured that I had made some decent gains (exceptional really) during the ATP for Project “M” but taking the measurements adds a level of truth. When the numbers are going in the direction you like, now that’ll be some serious self motivation. Peace.

Sweet goal Kevin. How's the diet look? Got things nailed down?
I feel the diet is pretty tight, at the least very consistent. I am taking in ~3,500-4,000 calories a day on a clean diet and have been since the beginning of this year.
Between both the M's ATP and now this HMS PUMP/Torrent testing, I haven't wanted to tweak the diet by adding more calories (which could falsely influence the testing results). I'm also working on my overall strength to head into a heavy bulk session too.
I do look forward to adding PUMP, M and Torrent; that stak is probably off the charts.
Thanks again, peace.

looking real good bro. I got a ? for you, do you find that with the torrent works with the muscle group that you worked out earlier in the week? what i mean by this is say you work out your chest on monday and take the torrent, then do legs on wednesday, and take the torrent again. Then the next day you find your chest is pretty much healed, while your legs are sore. The torrent works this way for me, i was just wondering if it effected you like this.

The HMS has helped in the sense that may DOMS has been more 'neutralized' since using this stak. I would credit this to the Torrent. I know it's early, but I'm liking this stak. Thanks again for checking in. Peace.

I gotta agree with you on this man. i dont get sore anymore. i get leg fatigue but not sore. i honestly feel recovered by the next morning. i am sure this is not the case though.

i agree about the DOMS, i was sure i was going to wake up this morning with sore legs ( from monday), but their just "heavy" feeling and my chest and back are still pumped from last night.
good work on the sldl, i have a hard time doing these, i always feel it more in my lumbars, i guess i need to quit stretching out my legs, i have tried doing leg curls before but the gym here only has a standing leg curl machine which is one leg at a time, on the side that has more rest gets tighter in my back.

to mimimize the stretching on the SLDLs. I'm pretty sure I'm quoting the Rock correctly.
Lots of people do a lot of work prior to squats, deads, etc. I've tried to do the leg extensions first on squat day and it just weakens my squat performance.
Times when I've stretched a lot too, my w/o's have suffered. So, I warm up and then do more warm ups with the squats and/or SLDLs. Check the form, get deep and then dive into the working sets.
On the SLDLs I would start light, stretch down with the bar as far as you can go, sometimes I get the board 3-4 inches off the ground, other times my feet are on the floor; hold for a second or two. With my head up, I steadily rise and squeeze the hams into submission.
I'm currently splitting front thighs from back thighs; it's working pretty well, I can squeeze out some more on both days cause I'm not as fatigued.

I don't use a flat bench; we've got those step things that the soccer moms use at my gym.
I've done barbell rows on the flat bench; but that does get hazardous as the poundages rise.
Worst have been deads and rows out on the boats; rolling all over the damn place with the waves. Gotta get those workouts in though.

looking real good bro. I got a ? for you, do you find that with the torrent works with the muscle group that you worked out earlier in the week? what i mean by this is say you work out your chest on monday and take the torrent, then do legs on wednesday, and take the torrent again. Then the next day you find your chest is pretty much healed, while your legs are sore. The torrent works this way for me, i was just wondering if it effected you like this.
The Torrent leaves my muscles fuller and with all the nutrients they need for recovery. Torrent is filling voids for me nutritionally; this PWO shake is great because even with my clean eating, Torrent is filling out the missing pieces for me.
Torrent is helping keep the DOMS at bay too. I'm not as sore (but I am working out just as much if not more intensely) so I strongly believe that Torrent is helping with my recovery.
This is a great stak.

Kevin’s 1st Test Session w/o recap:
Saturday, May 12, 2007
Workout time: 14:00-15:30
Flat Bench Press: 1x10 135lbs, 1x6 225lbs, 1x10 205lbs, 1x10 185lbs
Squats: 1x10 135lbs, 1x5 225lbs, 1x5 315lbs, 1x5 335lbs, 1x10 315lbs
Deadlifts: 1x10 135lbs, 1x5 225lbs, 1x5 315lbs, 1x5 345lbs, 1x10 295lbs
I’m not doing either Flat bench or Deadlifts in my current routine. So I have decided to add in one test day per training cycle in order to true up my numbers for the final tally.
I’m am currently running a five day split and anticipate using up the Torrent in 15 workouts; therefore these ‘test days’ won’t have Torrent following the w/o because they are not part of my regular training split.
Questions and comments are welcome. Peace.

Kevin’s Week #1’s review of Torrent:
When I first used Torrent I followed the directions on the tub and J-Dawg’s suggestion of using 20 ounces of water in the shaker.
After the first workout I downed my Nitro along with Torrent. With this first mixture my initial thought was that the smell was medicinal, like cherry cough syrup. Took it like a trooper and was very pleased with how well Torrent stayed solubilized in solution. It mixes well and thoroughly. Mad props to the formulation inventors at Universal and Animal.
For the next four workouts, I added an additional 5-8 ounces of water to the shaker with three scoops of Torrent and the medicinal smell disappeared and my Torrent PWO shake was perfected for widdlewade44.
Torrent has help me with keeping DOMS at bay. I have used PUMP for about 2 months now and love it. It gives increased blood flow and extra stimulation for the workouts at hand (obviously) and it helps the targeted muscle groups to really get into the workout and grow through a total beating. Torrent seems to be helping by providing the proper balance of nutrients to trigger muscle repair and growth immediately following the w/o; I think it really helps to maximize Nitro’s effects too.
I’m glad this is only the end of “Week 1” in this journey because this is an awesome stak and Torrent is definitely a product I will add to my arsenal of Animal and Universal products.
As always, questions and comment are welcome. Peace.

you Kev i got a question for you again (i hope you dont mind if i call you by your first name)
I see you take a good bit of liver tabs a day, and i read big ant's article on how important it is to take them. My question is why do you take so many of them a day? to make sure that your nitrogen balance is in check all day?

you Kev i got a question for you again (i hope you dont mind if i call you by your first name)
I see you take a good bit of liver tabs a day, and i read big ant's article on how important it is to take them. My question is why do you take so many of them a day? to make sure that your nitrogen balance is in check all day?
Uni-Liver tabs are truly old school, a proven staple that have been around forever (it would make a great article on the site with some historical research followed up with where the tabs are now). Similar to what House just mentioned in yesterday's article on the site:
http://www.animalpak.com/html/article_details.cfm?ID=372
you grow outside of the gym, primarily when you sleep. That's why people like Kevin Levrone say (and do) sleep like babies; lift, eat and he takes naps (like a growing infant does). And his results have been pretty spectacular over the course of his career.
So, to get back to the answer, what we do in the gym is catabolic (breaking down muscle) and all the other: stretching, eating (clean), hydration, supplements and lots of rest are all anabolic (muscle building) processes.
Your body is constantly building and repairing it itself; to optimize this we supplement (along with eating lots of good, clean food). Uni-Liver offers a very complete and diverse amino acid profile, it is inexpensive (especially for how effective it is) and it is a time proven product; it's not fly by night.
So I try to eat every 2-3 hours and I have my regular supps (pak, Flex, etc.) but the Uni-Liver helps to keep the nitrogen balance peaked (as you mentioned) and provides the AA's (amino acids) the body needs to build the muscles back fuller and bigger.
I used to take 3/dose (during my Project 'M' ATP) linked below:
http://forum.animalpak.com/showthread.php?t=2724
And since I have added a forth Uni-Liver per dose based on ‘feeling’; I have increased body weight since the ATP and I am gaining now, the ‘feeling’ I speak of is what I call an ache in my muscles. If I’m feeling that sensation, I need more food, and I think more over, more AA’s. So with adding another Uni-Liver tab, the ache has disappeared, my muscles and strength are growing and I feel fuller.
A lot of this process (of weight training and bodybuilding) is trial and error. I work hard on reducing the error by reading and studying, asking questions and trying things out. This is my 25th year of training this summer, so experience plays a large factor in this process too.
I hope I have answered your question and please feel free to ask away anytime. Thanks again for checking in. Peace.

Haven't been 'in the stink' as consistently b/c of computer and ISP trouble at the street.
The HMS finished up really strong for me and I'm jacked about it; I'll be catching up all my necessary posts as soon as the computer issues are squared away.
Peace.

Kevin’s Week #2’s review of Torrent:
Well I’m steadily adding ~28 ounces of water to my Torrent serving and the medicinal flavor/smell has disappeared. The Torrent has always consistently and completely solubilized (totally mixed).
The Torrent is consistently helping me with DOMS; I am experiencing very little of that. I have much less DOMS then when I wasn’t using Torrent.
The weight gains are steadily rising and I believe that it is the Torrent helping me in this area.
As always, questions and comment are welcome. Peace.

Torrent is great! It has helped me to steadily increase my body weight and recover quicker from my workouts.
The intensity of each workout has increased too and moving the plates is feeling great!
The weight gains are steady, and it’s needless to say that Torrent will be becoming a new staple in my supplement closet.

I want to take this moment again to thank The Animal Rep and all the others at Animal and Universal for giving me this opportunity to try out the House’s Mass Stak. This has been another awesome journey and Torrent is another great Animal/Universal product.
PWO shakes were an area of my program that I had room to improve in; Torrent is definitely my product of choice to fill this void now.
Torrent mixes very well, goes down smoothly and provides the calories and proper balance of nutrients to aid and speed up the recovery process.
Questions and comments are welcome. Peace.

Yeah Torrent is definitely gonna be included in my supplements from now on. My PWO nutrition was an area that needed improvement; years of trial and error hadn't ever really given me a solid solution. But Animal and Universal have answered that call with Torrent.
I did really have some awesome gains of strength with this stak. I believe an even more kick ass stak, especially for both strength and size would be with the addition of M-Stak. M-Stak, Torrent, PUMP, Pak and Nitro will probably do really well (for me). If you want a big bulk throw the Real Gains into the mix too.
