hello...im currently on my cut...here are the stats for myself and the diet:
ME:
Age: 16
Weight: 185
BF%: 11ish
Years Training: 2
DIET: (per day)
Calories: 1800
Protein: 180
Fat: 140
Carbs: <50
on to my question:
on this diet...how often should i have a high carb day?
if you need any more/different info dont hesitate to ask!
I'm no expert but it looks to me like your numbers as far as your protein and carbs go are to low and the fat seems to high. Lowering things to cut is one thing but starving your muscles is another.
As far a cycling carbs I have not done that yet. I would say start with something like, Low Carb - Mon, Wed, Fri, Sun. High Carb - Tues,Thurs,Sat and see how it works. Others would be able to direct you better with this Im sure.
Based on your fat, protein and carb intake your looking at about 2180 calories instead of 1800. 4 calories per 1 gram of protein and 4 calories per 1 gram of carbohydrate. 9 calories per 1 gram of fat.
Im sure as far as carb cycling goes you can find a ton of info if you do a search as well.

High fat is an ABSOLUTE MUST on a low carb cut.

High fat is an ABSOLUTE MUST on a low carb cut.
Fats are necessary for any diet. Cut or bulk, fats have always been the most overlooked part of any nutrtion plan. My diet balances fats found on my red meat and fish, with those found in my fish oil, flax meal, olive oil and nuts.

yeah I just changed up my diet to cycle high/low carb days daily. Sun/mon/wed/fri is low carb and tues/thurs/sat is high carb. I think the trick is just to watch total calories and make sure its correct for you to lose. On any low carb day, add some extra fat and protein to make up the calorie deficancy. On low carb days, I usually have a table spoon of peanut butter in the morning, a glass or 2 of milk and some cottage cheese for extra fats. Then high carb days, I eat lower fat but seriously, at 185 lbs I think you should be shooting for at least 200 grams of protein.

try kickin that protein intake up to about 250 grams or more, don't be shy... i've done something like this recently and i went with an every 3rd day carb re-feed. here's what my third day would look like:
m1(normal): 12 oz. sirloin, 1/2 cup almonds, bowl baby spinach
m2(normal): 2 organic eggs/ 8 whites, 1/2 cup almonds or other nuts, greens
m3(normal): 50 grams wpi/ 30 grams glutamine/ 100 grams vitargo powder
m4(carb up): 8 oz. chicken breast/ 1-2 sweet potatos/ 1-2 pieces low glycemic fruit
m5(carb up): 8oz. fish/ 4 pieces flax bread/ 1-2 pieces low glycemic fruit
m6(carb up): 1 cup cottage cheese/ 1 apple/ can of pumpkin w/splenda

After about 3 days on low calories/carbs, your metabolism will start to go into "starvation mode" and slow down. Every fourth day you'll want to raise your calories up to maintenance level and 40% of those calories should be carbs (sweetpotato, brown rice, oatmeal, etc.) I never went below 150g. carbs on my low days and on my high day I kicked them up to about 300-350g.
