Hello Fellas. Lifting hard or hardly lifting?

I am bulking right now..In a few weeks I want to start cutting.

The question is.. Can I keep the same diet, and just add 30-1 hr of cardio in the morning + Animal Cuts twice a day (1 pack before morning cardio, and one before evening lifting)

Thank You

To go into a cutting phase you have to lower your calories sufficiently and watch your carb intake. For instance throughout the day you want to eat veggies and fruit with every meal and save "other" carbs, oatmeal, bread, rice, pasta, etc. for strictly post workout. Upping cardio is just icing on the cake, a way to cut out a couple hundred more calories, but don't rely on it to cut you, your diet has to mainly do that.

Here's what I posted in another thread:

Here's how you figure out your required cals (2 step process):

Now that you have your BMR, use this next link to figure out your required cals.

For cutting, I suggest anywhere from -200 to -500

Here is my humble opinion....

Cardio should be done every other day. No longer than 40 minutes and you will be walking, not running.

Meals need to increase in frequency and you need to be pickier when you eat. I try to eat every 2 hours when I am dieting. Protein intake should also increase, if not double. Remember for dieting, 2grams of protein per lb of body weight. This is a must if you want to hold on to as much muscle as possible.

Some tips I found work for me.....

Eat most of my carbs in the morning and afternoon. Then tapering off after noon, and no carbs after 6pm. Also, I try to keep my sugar intake to no more than 15g a day!

Eat food that makes your body work harder to digest it. It will raise your core temp and metabolism. Oats, Chicken breast, yams, turkey breast, sirloin burgers, steak, and lots of veggies.

Remember that the key to dieting is writing down everything you eat. Every night before you go to bed, sit down and prepare an eating schedule. Also prepare all your meals in advance as well. I use Sunday's as my cookoff for the week! All these things will add up to a killer dieting plan.

Weigh yourself once a week, but dont get too concerned over bodyweight. Use the mirror as your real assesment. Make sure you arent loosing more than 2 lbs a week max! If you lose more, then you may be burning muscle and not fat. Just be conscious and careful of it.

These are just some basics for dieting. Hope it goes well for you.

edit: also, try to avoid having shakes if it all possible. Shakes do nothing but make you fat. Your body doesnt have to work to digest them. Just FYI

when i cut, i cut myself bare. im talkin 500 calories a day.
you'll drop 10 lbs in a week.
the entre..

morning: 1 cup plain oatmeal
lunch: 1 can of watered down tuna (wash out 4 or 5 times)
dinner: same as lunch

water it down as much as you can to wash out the salt since salt = bloat. i suggest you try and sleep as much as you can as to keep the hunger down. not the healthiest way to do it, but there are worse things out there.

500 calories a day?!? That's starvation! Here's a perfect example of what NOT to do. If you eat this little you will slow down your metabolism and lose muscle not fat.

Absolutely horrible advice!! Do some searching around the site and you'll find some great info on cutting. Let me know if you have any further questions.

Don't post HORRIBLE advice like that. We're not Highschool girls looking to get in shape for prom!

You need to go do your research.

yeah with 500 calories a day you can basicly walk to the gym and sit there for the whole session, what are your muscles runnin on ? huh ?

He'd have to be on *juice* to keep any muscle at all while pulling that crap.

yea i know that guy doesnt know squat. haha
A safe weight to lose is 2-3 lbs a week, and I will be taking Animal Nitro twice a day to prevent muscle loss even more.

I sitll have 2 weeks to go before cutting, so I will read up more on the subject.

So far I'll follow these basic rules
- No Carbs after 4 pm (pasta.. Can I eat brown rice?)
- Lots of fruits and veggies
- Lots of water
- Eating every 2 hours high protein to preserve muscle
- Cardio twice a day, morning and afternoon
- Lifting with same intensity.

Could somebody please give me a list of sample foods to eat while cutting.
I know like chicken, fish, salads. What else? Tuna? Thanks

No carbs after 4pm ? That's a bit extreme, unless you're preparing for a competition.

The foods you can eat are just normal bodybuilding foods, only make sure they're lean and fit in your daily caloric intake.

It kinda is, because you want carbs even when you're cutting. Carbs have a protein sparing effect and they are you primary fuel source.

so i was pretty much right then..
do what i do, just lower my calories a bit, and add cardio + animal cuts.
well + more veggies, fruits, and no carbs after 7-8pm

It won't help that much with KCals that low

Download and read Tom Venuto's e-book. He's a non-synthetic (natural) competitor that gets absolutely SHREDDED without drugs and without all the latest and greatest supplements out there. It comes down to your caloric intake, ratios of carbs, protein, and fat and increasing your cardio.
