Im a highschool student, and i leave my house at 6:30am and get home at 5-6 pm. I dont drive so i have to take what ever i eat throughout the day in my backpack besides lunch. I have been eating sandwiches with ham, turkey, salami and cheese twice daily for ever. I eat my "snacks" at 9 between classes, and at 1:30 (preworkout) between classes. Lunch is at 11:30 so i get the best whole foods in as possible, but i workout at 3 and need something in between. What would be good bulking snacks. Im thinking sandwich and protein shake. The more options the better, and im not worried about too many calories, only too little.

Plan ahead with meals. On Sundays I'm grilling 12+ chicken breasts and steaks, baking maybe half a dozen potatoes, and boiling a pot or two of brown rice. Keeping your fridge stocked with meals in tupperware with a little masking tape and a sharpie organizes your meals and doesn't leave you guessing on portion sizes.

I think the above poster's suggestion would be good, but only if you have access to a microwave at your school; and if your school is like what mine was, probably not.

Try to eat a couple of sandwiches during each of your breaks, and wash 'em down with a protein shake. If you can get your folks to get you a steady supply of protein bars, that may help as well.

Hope this helps!

Protein bars are great for snacks, and there is always room for another sandwich. Where there's a will there's a way, and you're on the right path with protein shakes. Grab that shaker bottle and head out the door!

Meal replacements can be your best friend. Carry a couple shakers in your backpack and fill em up with a good meal replacement. Real Gains is my personal favorite because it has the flaxseed oil and casein. I'm a college student and I can somewhat relate to what your going thru.....and trust me.....meal replacements are life savers.

I find this the best way to do things also. You can just grab what you need and head out the door, not worrying about making the food in the morning, or what your going to do throughout the day. As for good snacks, i would suggest peanuts/almonds during class (classes where teachers let you eat), protein bars between classes if you can spare the change; although i dont eat them due to price. Protein shakes are harder to have between classes because of lack of time, but if you can get one down id say go for it. Dont forget to drink LOTS of water tho, like carrying a gallon jug with you all day. Gotta keep hydrated too. Hope that helps.

Maybe i should have been more specific. I need suggestions for a mid morning meal, preworkout meal, and post workout (Im doing whey+oatmeal now), that can all fit into my backpack w/books+shorts and t shirt. I already know to make sandwiches and what not. Anyone have good meal replacement shakes i can just put in a bottle and add water when im ready? I know this is pretty specific and i might be able to find the answers in various threads here. Just humor me and give some ideas.

If it's impossible for you to get whole food (which is the best) Go with a high calorie low sugar weight gainer shake... (Real Gains, True Mass, Cyto Gainer.) to name a few. Hope this helps out bro.
