Getting to sleep on time is a struggle for me. It can take me up to 2 hours to actually get some shut eye. In your experience, can the types of food you eat before bed help or hamper your sleep? What do you take before bed?

I've never tried it but lots of people use ZMA to help them sleep.

Yeah, goto the doc and sign up for a sleep test. They'll figure out exactly what keeps you up and help you get it under control.

This is of course assuming you've tried all other methods you could think of. No caffeine after a certain time, relaxation, yada yada yada... you know

Helped me immensely. I can only sleep 5 hours due to other things i have going on in my life, but it used to only be 2-3 because i couldn't fall asleep.

Man, I get about 5-6 hours a day. literally a day. I work 3rd shift, and don't go to sleep until i leave the gym at around 1000am. I honestly just eat light meals throughout my shift so I don't get the "full" feeling and I don't load up on sugars or simple carbs due to the fact that you crash with your insulin levels and you will feel more tired than before. Don't drink all that Red Bull crap either, you'll crash even harder.

3 hours? Whoa man, and you still got energy to train? I think I tried to train after a 4 hour night and I was utter rubbish in the gym. Felt dizzy real fast and kept on running to the bathroom to empty my guts. The other guys at the gym that day must have thought I was squating 500lbs or something.

i used to be able to tell when i was overtraining cause i would find it harder and harder to get to sleep, and whenever i would cut back on training and just make it into 4 days instead of 5, for example, i would then be able to fall asleep quicker, atm cause im not training due to tearing my shoulder i can fall asleep really easily (without trying to rub anything in!), also try and forgot about any thoughts u have in ur head, as ive also learned that if u clear ur mind u will also fall alseep quicker, u can do this by either saying to urself that u'll think about the thoughts tomorrow or just write down any thoughts u have on a bit of paper as this is a physcological way of clearing your mind, sweet dreams bro!!

I just got on ZMA. I'll report back in a few weeks after it kicks in. I think there will be a noticable difference though

Also- I use Green tea. you can get Green tea for "relaxing". Its soothing and helps slow you down

Nah, I don't think over training is my problem. I am kinda a stickler about that issue. I use a 3 day split workout and train in the late afternoon. I think it's mostly mental for me. I can't get to sleep when I turn of the lights, and when I've been lying down too long, then the chatter starts. I'm gonna use my bedroom strictly for sleep now. Read somewhere that TV and a laptop in the bedroom is sleep poison or something. Thanks for the insight on overtraining though Hardcore and Stig. I didn't know about that.

That's weird, I use green tea to stimulate my body. It contains caffeine after all.

Not all Green tea does. If you find a vitamin shop that carrys a wide variety of GreenTea, there are ones specifically for calming you down that are caffeine free.
