View Full Version : The Lifting Mystic

Despite the overtly narcissistic overtones, ours is a spiritual lifestyle. The only comparable lifestyle that I can think of is that of a monk.

Both the lifter and the monk live regimented lives, doling out time each day to accomplish the task at hand. To deviate would be to fail.

Both understand that work, and not words, reveal character.

Some monks, like the flagellants, would inflict pain upon themselves to transcend the physical confines of existance. To shape their wills. Lifters do this almost everyday.

Both shun the ceaseless panorama of materialism around them. They need only the tools to get their business done.

Both understand that there is a greater purpose in all of this, that greatness lies in small actions done with great love.

The next time you get treated like a meathead, like some oaf who happened to be born with this, when you get "the look," remember: you are the new mystics. You see past the shadows and dust of this world and choose to believe in truth through trial.

Fight hard.

good analogy bro.

sometimes i feel alone sticking to my schedule, preping my meals, killing it in the gym, and watching my roomates get F*ked up.

but i know i will reap my reward when i step into the lights.

I couldn't agree with you more brother. We work, we abstain, we twist and bend our lives into animalism and we have thought, we are deep, but people label us as muscle bound jocks that have a natural ability. True some guys are born with 22" guns or a six pack but a lot of us have to push, grind, and drive for what we have. Your words are like fresh air wifting into the iron jungle from outside in the so called real world.
