Wassup fellow Animals! I was just wondering about tanning. I have a show coming up in November so I am in no rush, and this is my second show. At my first show I was not dark enough because the Jan Tana stuff that I used rubbed off for some reason. Anyways, I wanted to know if you apply some coats of Pro Tan a couple of days before and then a bronzer the day of the show should you have to use a tanning bed as well? Or could you apply the Pro Tan and bronzer to not tanned skin and still be dark enough on stage? Last time I was told that if I was darker I would have probably won my division at least. I tried to search for this topic but couldn't find the answer I needed. Thanks for all of the help Animals. Peace and Train Hard!

Hey Bro,
i just competed in my first show, it was teh canadian nationals and i placed 4th overall in the juniors. For tanning, i used a tannin bed for a few months b4 almost every day and then used Dream Tan spray for three days out, one coat a day and then used Dream Tan cream #1 the day of the showm, one coat before pre-judging and another before the routine round and posedown, the second coat made a huge difference and i looked jacked lol. Good luck bro, train hard and giver tits.

You can never be to dark on stage, unless you are blotchy..

You will get a million different answers...this is what I do..

Tanning bed, 4 weeks out, 4x a week until Thurs before the show.

Thursday night (Sat morning is pre-judge)

I love and always use Pro-Tan--the best is to get a midget (a hot-pretty midget to apply it for you) - private joke!

I put on 2 dark coats Thursday night, take a short-like-10 second water-only shower-fan dry.

Friday night put 1 more coat on, fast shower again-fan dry.

Saturday-show day--wake up early put 1 last coat on, fan dry-NO SHOWER...

After pre-judge put 1 more coat on, fan dry-no shower...

**And make sure you are done 100% shaving your body by
Thursday mid-morning...

Ok?
Hit me up if you need more info.

Ant.

Depending on your natural skin tone and how well you 'hold' color, you should be tanning in the bed, unless you live in hot, sunny weather, then tan naturally! LOL

Big Ant is right- you can NEVER be too dark. It's crucial that you be dark enough, or it will hurt you in competition. It sounds like it already did? Don't make the same mistake twice.

Tan as much as you can during your prep. But stop the tanning beds about a week out, as it can hold water on some people. Once you have a "tan base" you can use different products to help you achieve a darker look. Different products/combiination of products work for different people......so some experimentation is required on your part. One thing I will state emphatically though: Watch the Dream Tan! European judges LOVE this shit , but the American judges frown on it, and if not applied perfectly, it will blur your conditioning. It is very tricky to use properly, as there is Dream Tan 1 and Dream Tan 2. If you screw it up, you will look awful!

Safer bets include the good ol Pro Tan, which has the regular tanning lotion, a good Bronzer, Foam, etc. Some swear by Jan Tana's products, though personally I hate her stuff as I always come out green and it's never even. Regardless of the products, make sure it is even , make sure your "handler" has applied color before and knows what they are doing. Hey........they get to see you naked in all kinds of crazy positions to get all the "spots" , so no doubt you'll have people lined up to tan you! ROFL.

Make sure your shaving is done, like Big Ant said........If not, you will have razor burns/cuts that will highlight the tanned area and that looks awful, too. Whether you shave or wax, let the skin "heal" before applying the tanning products, as some of these compounds actually burn.

Your other option is the Spray on tan- which many of the bigger shows are offering as a service to the athletes, but you pay for it. I've done it the last few times I've competed, and I do like it. Takes a lot of the stress off of me when I'm already stressed. But........even if you do the Spray tan, you need to have a solid base. And never, ever go to shows alone. Someone MUST be there to help you........Can't do it solo. Take a spouse, a friend, an enemy, you parents, don't care who you take, but you must have a handler.

Good luck,

NPC CHicka
