View Full Version : CLOSED: The Official Animal "Vintage T" Promo
Above are the 10 finalists from the Vintage T-Shirt Promo.
Please vote once for which post you think is the best. Remember this is not a popularity contest. The top four vote getters will each win the "Vintage T".
This poll will officially close in one week, Thursday 8/2/07.
The finalists and their posts will follow below...
1) I've been a member of the FORVM since day1. Besides wanting to be part of this community, I joined to learn and to share; to be inspired and to motivate.
I've learned so much from this website and the FORVM. To begin with, I've picked up Training techniques, tricks and routines. The same goes with Diet - strategies, principles, recipes and supplementation. And most importantly, I've learned a lot about life - life in the world we have to live in and the life in the iron world we have chosen to live in.
Why I have stayed? Because I am still a beginner in this game and always will be. There is always going to be something to learn and something to give. And this is where I belong.
2) Why did I come here... simple. Because of U-Rep and G-Diesel.
I've been struggling to get back to my original self. I let my body go way too long, neglecting it for other duties in life. So by the time I got a chance to jump back in the game, I dove in head first with limited knowledge of what I should be doing.
I floated from website to website trying to ask the questions I needed and find the products that might help me out in what I was doing. On BB.com I started noticing people talk about Animal this... and Animal that... so I did a little research into their product areas.
I was astounded by the time and dedication G and U-Rep took when answering questions or giving bits of info about their product line. One little PM to U-Rep to get a little info led me here. And that's where the journey starts...
U-Rep was right... there was a wealth of knowledge here and it was within the people that post here daily. From Toni's recipes, G's and Ant's knowledge of products and their makeup, to just good ol U-Rep teasin us with "stay tuned" about upcoming products; there's no lack of info here for me personally. And if ever there was a question, there's always someone here to answer.
It's what keeps me coming back. There's no judging here, no rampant animosity, or people ignoring you when you need a hand. Be it questions on products, workouts, or just needing to vent about something that happened in the gym... there's always people here to support you. To know there's such a family behind you to help you get back up when you fall... hell, I can't describe it.
I may not be the biggest here, the smartest, or whatever... I don't have to be. I got 7000+ members (and growing) to help me on my way. That's why I'll keep coming back... keep helping however I can.
That's why I'm Animal.
3) I remember first starting out two years ago. I used to go to this gym that was full of guys that scared the shit out of me. I was really small then, and I was very shallow too. I didn't get what these guys did, why they did it, and so on. I thought they were just arrogant "meatheads" who had nothing better to do.
But, I wanted to put some mass on to improve for my sport. A few months later, I was still doing the same thing. Working out 2 hours a day 5 days a week. I did not know why I was not putting on any weight.
So, I googled "working out" "weights" "protein" and came up to a site, not Animal. I literally spent the 3-4 hours daily reading about nutrition, training, everything. I found out what I was doing wrong; and I made necessary changes. It was on this site I first read Machines articles. They had the old articles from 2003 on it. I thought this guy was insane, but he knew his stuff.
So, I would read article after article of Machine, until I ran out. I knew I had to keep going. I saw he was sponsored by Animal. So, I googled that and read every article on here over a month.
------------------------------------------------
I would check back here every now and then to look at the tip of the week or polls (Bring those back) Then, one day the Forvm popped up. I spent a lot of time on other boards. Got sucked into the bullshit of it all. Some people here know what Misc is.
Basically, I left those boards and stayed here. I stay so I can read what Machine, Big Ant, G Diesel has to say. These are real people on the other end on a real computer. These aren't larger than life creations made as marketing tools. But it is not only the big names around here that keep me interested. But everyone else. They all have a story. They don't sugar coat it. They don't BS anything. I read their journeys. They remind me how far I have come in 2 years. That I am only scratching surface of it. That what I used to do with my time was very shallow and petty. Not to judge others. Not to mention the more physical things: diet and training.
The great thing about the Forvm is that after you run out of stuff on the main site. Hundreds of articles. While the Journey is over, Freakshow comes out once a month, and Diary of a Madman takes a week; you can come on here and see something inspirational or informative updated every minute of the day. I also like how we can say naughty words. That is how I usually speak (not in good company). But you know what, we don't abuse it. We don't call anyone names or slurs. We all kind of have a mutual respect around here.
------------------------------------------------
4) Why i came here?... This is where I belong, this is home, a republic of animals. I know now that I am animal just like so many others that are in the same game. I know now what the meaning of being animal is. Its a feeling. Animal is not the biggest guy, the strongest guy or the fastest guy... its the guy that doesnt stop. Being animal is not a competition, its survival and instinct! Iron and life have put a challenge in front of me, a challenge to be among those that do it every day, every way, all the way and among those that push back. The ones that feel the steel and push out the reps till they dont have anything left. The ones that go through the brutal diets till they puke. The ones that live and dream 45's at a time. I intend to go forth and take that challenge to the fullest on bare instinct. Why?... because I am animal and I am going to stay that way!
5) I picked up a copy of Muscle and Fitness about 3 years ago, with Dewayne Johnson (The Rock) on the cover. In it, I found my favorite ad (still to this day) "Squat till you Puke". I had to see what this was all about. The minute I logged onto this website, I knew. Have you ever felt that you were different from the crowd? A throwback to the old days? Someone who marches to the beat inside his own head? Sure, you have, otherwise you wouldn't be here. This site has told me that the things that really matter in life;RESPECT, PRIDE, HARD WORK, DEDICATION, PERSERVERENCE, LOYALITY, SACRIFICE and above all STRENGTH and HONOR; these aspect are alive and well in we select few.
See, I work in at a Granite and Lighting company. And every day I see the worst come out in people, in the forms of Greed and gluttony. But here I see that not all hope is lost. Where Honesty is the best policy, and leave your political, ass kissing at the door.
As for learning, I have learned far more than I wish to admit, both about myself, and about Training, Diet, and Living. But, most of all, I have learned that the FIRE still burns inside me. This is long overdue, but I need to thank each and every one of the members on the forvm. I have learned something from everyone. From the knowledgable pros, to the green rookies, Every time you have asked, thought, spoke, answered, I have learned.
I will stay here as long as I am allowed to. I am not qualified to be an ANIMAL. I am mearly a mortal man who knows Sacrifice and Intensity all to well. But we all have to have goals, don't we.
Strength and Honor.
6) I stumbled across animalpak.com in late 2002, I believe. I began reading "life is a freakshow" by MACHINE. I remeber, I was stationed in Guam at the time, and i couldn't take my eyes off of the computer screen. What this man had to say is what I had always felt, but could never put into words. I would constantly get chills up and spine and right then, I knew this website was something special and i had found a place where people thought like I did.
Fast forward to 2007, I get wind that my favorite website may be having forums soon, from G desiel over at BB.com. I knew what was about to happen. Everyone who was tired of the bullshit all in one place to share and inform one another was something I could not wait for. Finally i get the email and sign up. Since then, I have learned even more humility than I already had. I've learned no matter how hard your struggle, how tough your luck, there is ALWAYS someone who has it harder and tougher. But, I think the most inportant thing that I have learned from the forum is that i am not alone in my mindset, my determination, my sacrifice, and my passion. I stay because a true warrior never deserts his tribe, and is forever loyal. Animal for Life.
7) The monkey on your back, the desire, the calling, the animal way. Call it what you may say what you will your words fall on deaf ears. Im here because I was chosen as a disciple of the Iron. I am the one who will emerge from the dust and ash, which is a futile world of the obese that have the unrelenting sickness of self-gratification in a life full of mediocrity. Animal pak user since I was fifteen 6 years I have been with the animal ways and I would not give it back for nothing and none. I am here because animal is not just an idea or ideal it is me! I am a true animal, believe me or not I could give a fuck less. It is not a thought in the back of my head, im not here to get those abs the women want. I want to be so fucking big the women cannot look away from me. I want to go fridge shopping and be bigger than the fridges. I am here to move big weight to get big muscle. Since I have been here, I have learned how to push the pedal to the metal. I have seen power freak blow through plateaus and prove weight is just a fucking number and a number never stopped anyone. I have watched Wrath prepare for one of the most important days of his life; I learned what it takes to attack it like a pro. I have seen the proper forms of bulking and training through G Diseal’s posts. I have seen age and working out at home is NOT a fucking excuse as demonstrated by BigANT. I have seen the determination and gut wrenching true logic that it takes to be an animal through Machine. I have stayed because in this battle of iron, this war I wage daily, this anger march to the fucking top is a lonely battle. One thousand is better than one hundred as one hundred is better than one and alone I am just one with the forvm I am an army. I am no longer alone I am in the company of others that believe the same. I am a member of the brother hood and you will not let me down as I will not let you down. Through this brother hood I shall become that which I desire: the ultimate example of ones physique. I am Animal Hear me ROAR! I am dominatetheiron...
8) I was on another site, reading Shack's workout split, and decided to try it out. Needless to say the workout and the pump was amazing. There was a link to the animalpak.com website. I still remember that day, the first day when I came on here, everything classic black and white, the best articles, bodybuilders, and then the FORVM, the brotherhood of Iron. It doesn't get better than this, all the Animals on here are helpful and we motivate each other, this is a lifestyle, we all have the same mindset and we learn so much on here from all the big dawgs like BigAnt, G, House, Machine, Vinny, and our sisters like Toni, etc...
Supplements are the best and we ACTUALLY get results, unlike other companies that always promise shit but never work. I have used many different supps from you guys like Pak, Pump, Torrent, M-stak, etc.. and they never fail to work. thanks for this great community and products, would love to rep Animal with the Pak shirt!!!! Animal all the way baby!
9) Why I came - I saw a link from BB.com from G and took a peak...my initial thought was this is exactly what I am looking for. No Nonsense straight to the point conversations.
What I have Learned - Learned a lot, I think that the best thing that I learned is that you must have a proper diet in place before anything else happens. The first person to tell me that was UREP...couldn't figure out why a guy pushing supps is first pushing something he/animal doesn't get a cut on but being in here since February I realized it is a family that they are taking care of.
Why am I staying - I appreciate the straight forward responses you get here. There isn't one watchman, pro, etc. that feels that they are above answering anyone's question. The other reason is that I absolutely love reading some of the philosophical writings that have become so inspiring to so many. There is nothing like reading one of those and standing up a work and walk away like you just saw the state championship game winning shot on the movie Hoosiers...some of them just send the adrenaline production into overdrive.

10) I'll try...
I come here because this is home...these members are my family.
Besides the gym, there is no place where people have the desire, the dedication, or the determination to better themselves, in my life. In the gym you see it....blood and guts being spilled just so these people..these madmen can look at themselves in the mirror... such motivation.
But when I'm not in the gym how can I get this same motivation? How can I get the feeling of what I'm doing isn't abnormal? It's Here.
People at school point and say "steroids"....boys who look like beach bums to even very attractive females. Here all my training...all my diet...all of this is not adnormal or "weird" to anyone....this is how everybody lives. This is where I belong.
The day before my first day in the gym, I found an old can of Animal Pak in the cabinet, it use to belong to my brother when he worked out. It took me about 10 minutes to swallow the whole thing. From then I've been a loyal customer, never missed a day. I found this site by the ad in M&F saying about how buying chicken is more important than toilet paper and paying gym dues is more important than paying rent. Then on the corner I seen this website address...my face lit up. I had a new place to go to, new information to recieve. This place was it.
When I seen the poll on the homepage saying "IF we had a forum, would you use it?" or something of that nature...I never thought it would amount to this. I thought it would turn into every other forum, people disagreeing over such trivial matters. But no, I...we...are blessed here at the Forvm. We are spoiled. If we need information, Bigant, Toni, Big Al, G Diesel, Machine, Vinny and many many more are all ready to chime in. We can learn in minutes what it took them years to figure out.
Why do I come here? Where else would I go? Where else do I even need to be? This is it....this is home. Thank you for allowing me to be here.
