Starting "X" Monday 8.6.07

A few stats:

40 years old @ 5'6" 205lbs

Best 1RMs:

--bench press- 365
--barbell rows- 275
--deadlifts- 450
--squats- 385
--leg press- 900
--barbell curls- 135
--shoulder press- 225

I respond fast to any changes I make so I will have a very good idea of how this "X" stuff kicks in. Stay tuned.

I gonna put this here to remind me how to fill this thing out... I might be slow but I'm stupid like that..

Alpha Testing FAQ's:

Do all alpha testers need to keep a log in the forum?
Yes, as it's the easiest way to keep track of all your info and stats. Keep this log updated, at least on a weekly basis, though more updates is better than less.

What should I keep track of in my log?
We want ya to keep track of the following:
-Current weight
-Current training split
-Diet-- a basic breakdown of what you take in, and also any other supplements you'll be on (please don't add any new supplements to your regimen while on Animal "X")
-Your lifts and the weights that you are currently using for those lifts.
-In particular, we ask that you guys keep track of your major lifts on a weekly basis(i.e. bench, rows, deads, squats, shoulder press and so on), we'll be looking at percentages, increase in weight on lifts etc.

What should I do when my log is finished?
In your last post, please place the following information when finished:
-Starting weight and finishing weight
-Your starting weight and finishing weight on the following lifts:
--bench press
--barbell rows
--deadlifts
--squats
--leg press
--barbell curls
--shoulder press
-Your final impressions of Animal "X"

Can I use my regular supplements while on Alpha Testing?
While on Animal "X", if you were using other supplements prior to starting your Animal "X" cycle, you may continue to use them during the cycle. Just don't introduce any new supplements into your regimen during the alpha testing period.

Should I follow any special diet while on the Alpha Testing Program?
For best results you should be on a bulking cycle as more calories will be beneficial for your results. Cutting diets are definitely not recommended.

Ok, nothing exciting today because this is the very first day I took "X" and this is my day off training, so let’s see how I end out my week and post some training along the way. I'll open up a bit more once I get moving here. I can say this however, it's perfect timing for this sup because I hit a plateau and "X" is basically going to help me or go unnoticed. If anybody used GRO PRO in the past I was one of the first people to use that and got great increases on what matters most to me...strength.

Dude looks like The Lad on the leg press... Thick as hell, neck disappears, traps get all bunched up, bald head turns bright purple. Insane. One of the trainers with the best form and range of motion that I've ever trained with. Juggernaut's a freak that can't help but grow. Peace, G

OK, nobody has ever confused me with "MR. Placebo" The person blabbing about every sup that it kicks in around 25 minutes after taking it and brags about how much of a house they have become in 3 days. whatever... This X stuff has made me noticeably stronger since 8.6.07 in general. I don't have dramatic energy from it so I don't think this is what this stuff is about but as far as my weight creeping up a little and my strength, I'd say so far it's positive. I really don't want to say too much for another 2 weeks. Every time I do a heavier max I'm going to post it. That seems to make sense. I'm eating, training and sleeping to grow so I expect something from that anyway but I'm must be going in the right direction because I'm no lighter or weaker...

heres how tonights back session went, Big Wides, Juggernaut, and a tub of chalk, very interesting:

deads - warmups, 405x1, 455x1, 405x3x3, 405x2/1 for 12 sets, which brings the total for 405 to 15 sets

i am not shitting anyone here, this is not a typo by any means. no straps were used at all during this back session, only chalk. felt damn good to pull 455 it was easy and it also felt good to regain the power cage.

Also, Juggernaut great fucking job as well, as it was put "who needs drugs, just fucking deadlift"

Not only up 5lbs on my max Dead but a personal best with all the volume that followed-------something is going on here I can't explain, or maybe I can? "X"? Squats on this Thursday 8.16.07, let's see what is up then... G, wish you were here for this evening of DLs.

My wife has been on me for months to clear out my closet. I know I have at least 20 t-shirts that will in no way fit anymore. Thankfully they have started giving out XXL shirts at the Arnold.

Keep at it man, you'll get there. And with Animal X, we'll all get there a lot faster!

Yeah brother, clear that shit out because we are never going backward in size unless we decide to get shredded. Hope to run into you at the next Arnold, it's on my calendar already.. One regret I have about a shirt that does not fit anymore...was a gift given to me that said, "I'm not real smart but I can lift heavy things" (let the truth be known)

Honestly, I never rush a critique and all in all, doubt most things until they prove themselves. I just can't ignore hitting 455 then throwing 405 around like it was a rattle when just 3 weeks ago it almost fell out of my hands and I did not rock it back for a complete dead as my max single.

Yup, supps too. I have been really lucky too in the injury area...nothing to date (pulled my back bad once doing partial rack DLs but back 100% from that) Considering how I train and my age it must be more than luck. I kinda think like this.."Never put on a show, only show yourself."

G is a great guy (and a human moose) me being a head shorter and about 50lb's lighter then him just makes for one hell of a game of catch up, or desire to not take his plates off (out of consideration) It's pretty much balls out on every training session but we are training smart and no signs of injury anywhere so far. With all the eating and powerlifting style we do with everything I can still say we are both bringing out our abs so I aint bitchin.. We cover whole body every week. Wides has been in the mix lately and all I'm gonna say about that is; as a trio, us and maybe two other Animals in our gym, the rest can't keep up. Lately we have been getting some questions but most of the time the wanna b's give us that attitude look with nothing to back it up with...

I can only imagine how intense the three of you were...pushing each other to the limit; That is awesome in itself. As much as I do like to train alone, having that other person/people there that are in the same mindset as you or me..us...makes it all so much more worth it.

attaching fire extingushers to my chair at work to get around. it was an intense session, if the legs dont grow i think they might be dead.

also, quoting Caddyshack and Sanford & Son was another highlight of the night

I can only imagine how intense the three of you were...pushing each other to the limit; That is awesome in itself. As much as I do like to train alone, having that other person/people there that are in the same mindset as you or me..us...makes it all so much more worth it.

"Know your limits, but never accept them"

I'm fine with training alone too but I like having other like-minded partners with me. There is no way we could train alone the way we have been training lately. Not like we were dropping shit or being asses but it's all in the name of safety to know somebody is watching.

That is the only reason why I like a reliable partner..for those days I want to go heavier than normal..which is a lot lately. When I was still squatting with this bulging disk, I needed a spot there in case I couldnt finish a rep or whatever. Unfortunately now, I cant squat at all..the only leg exercise I cant do now and its the one I need most of all which frustrates me to no end cause I was progressing really well...getting ATG with 185...225 being my best squat day.

Oh well...Vinny G, my show prep boss, recently told me "sometimes an injury is a blessing in disguise." Sounds somewhat uplifting huh?...NOT!!!! LOL...of course, legs for me are not what I need to be slackin on right now so I am forced to get creative starting monday.

I will be back to check you out...very motivating..even if I cant do squats physically...I will just daydream instead! LOL

ha! yeah yeah I forgot about that quoting. We were in some whacked zone last night for sure. To barely walk out of the gym, pumped out of your mind but also feeling like you ran a marathon was awesome.

Doing great on this stuff but have to admit to it making you push weight you don't generally. It's crazy when you attempt something you didn't before; yet it goes up like cake. I can't wait to post my ending numbers when I'm done the cycle. This can't be in my head, I'm stronger.

Hey man, I am banged up though. Not sure if it's the ego I don't have talking or the "X" but I'm gonna need some down time to recup after all this abuse. I look forward to every workout, just to see what it brings now that I'm not stale anymore.

I agree those supps (universal supps) help with gains too cause I totally love the M-Stak and it has helped me pull off weights I normally would not have thought twice about. Maybe its partly mental, but I know without the supps I take now, I would not hang with half of the shit I have done already.

Thanks for the post in my journey..your funny. Do I blah, blah, blah too much for you??? LOL

I have to admit..this is the heaviest I have ever lifted throughout all my training (almost 9 years now). I always stayed in close to contest shape, always pretty lean and cut year round. I have become way more aggressive with my training but I still hold back. Its not so much I dont have faith in my current training partner getting my back. Maybe Im scared or maybe Im thinking too much about my current back injury...I dont know. I guess I also dont want to cross over that line of femininty versus big and buff. I try to keep my physique as balanced as possible. I dont want to lose what feminity I have left...so this holds me back from getting to crazy with the weights.

If it wasnt for this current back injury holding me back, I prob would be training way heavier because I can. So, like Vinny tells me..sometimes an injury is a blessing in disguise. Whatever that means! LOL

Appreciate the post, I have been stuck for a while, now I'm seeing some light at that tunnel. I'm gonna rest up a few days because I beat myself up so bad leg day I pulled my right quad during sumo smith squats. First time for that so I'm glad I caught it in the early stages. Train around it...

I swear ever since my back crap started everyone else here is slowly getting injured. I am sorry you caught my cooties! LOL! LOL!

Feel better soon cause I love reading your log here. Are you limping? At least you dont walk in the hunched over position like I do when I get home and everything catches up to me. Shit..sneezing is the worst for me at this point. I have to brace myself and hold on for dear life cause the pain is that bad.

train around it..that is all we can do cause we will never stop. We must be gluttons for pain huh? ;)

Limping yes but way better today. I can't complain much because I got to see powerfreak at the Arnold actually tear his quad right in front of me and I'm no where near that.... I caught it before it tore but it was on it's way. I didn't even notice it really until it woke my ass up in the middle of the night. Kinda cool that I have it now still, that car was created during a gas crunch by Fords Special Vehicle Operations to see if they could build a 4cly turbo that had V8 power... it's my baby you could say... Ok enough car talk, I'm gonna post some new numbers at the top of this list that has increased since "X"

Best 1RMs:

--bench press- 365 (now 375)
--barbell rows- 275 (That was for reps so it's way more)
--deadlifts- 450 (only 455 now because I missed 475) 465? yeah, got that..
--squats- 385 (had some crazy diversity with leg training so I need to do this)
--leg press- 900 (Did not count plates exact but it was more)
--barbell curls- 135 (now 155)
--shoulder press- 225 (now 245) behind

*All this increase and just a pulled quad? Heck, it's going to be a good years end... 08 will present my biggest goal- having less body fat with more lean mass and strength at 41.

Very true and growing up I always had respect for people in their 80's and up. We are all going to be there and wouldn't it suck if some @$*hole brat gave you an odd look instead of respect? The same respect goes to the younger people on here as well because I always wanted respect in my teens too. I got by fine with my genetics long enough, now I'm getting more serious at 40. Being a trainer forever I would get clients turning 40 thinking they had to slow down in the gym and here I was in my twenties telling them you have only started training at 40.

Gonna hit chest Friday, it's the only thing right now not ready to snap. I have no problem admitting to resting when I think I need to. I want to see where that takes me but will probably start back up officially Tuesday. I feel the need to do some cardio and get my VO2 max up, I'm too out of breath from some of these (all) workouts lately. Almost finished all this "X" and even if I did not go another day I would say this stuff shot me right out of the plateau I was bitching about before I started it.

I think we are about to get into a parking lot fight over who the beast really is G. My money is on the fact that you are the true beast. You forget I'm the guy that tries to keep up to you! If nothing is injured on you, you out rep and out lift me in all areas on a regular basis. nuff said right there.. Good people yes and I only hang out with good people if I'm not being the introvert I am most of the time. No room for bullshit or A holes. That said, nice doing damage to muscle fibers with you bro, it's only the beginning of much more mass.

Last week I had the most pathetic bench day. I could not bring 225 to my chest or bench it for that matter because of the pain I was in. One week later today I'm back doing 365. I must have experienced "almost injuring myself" 99.5% but not quite. I'm glad I will not have any down time going where I need to. I need to own 405 raw one day. Best so far again is 375. I should be in tip top shape, legs and all by the time this long weekend is over. Looking to hit it hard again next week starting Tuesday. Everybody have a safe and great weekend.

Doesn't it suck! I've been out for over a week. I'm still in morning. Although wearing all this black is getting a little hot in this heat. LOL

I will say I was still getting X type workouts all last week. Sweating has finally slowed down... a little. But, bench went up another 10 pounds on my first non-X chest day. So, hit it hard.

And keep us posted. :)

Ohh... and rest that injury, as much as possible anyways..

I'm doing real good and will most likely train tonight, Thurs and Fri. In all seriousness though (felt bad about laughing about mourning) our boy Big Wides lost a good friend recently and his mourning is for real so if you haven't stopped by his page please do. Thank you very much man. Even during tough times like that, laughing may not always be a bad thing to celebrate somebody's life AD. I sure hope when I go that people can still smile/laugh about the crazy shit I did-----and most others do.... To your friend Wides, nothing but RESPECT!!
