Offseason ---> 90/10 principle. Eat well 90% of the time and 10% of the time have at it. Were human, we don't get paid to track calories or macro's. A lot of you guys have family and kids, so it would be foolish to neglect family moments and time out with them for meals.
Pre-contest or contest prep = On point... You are paying good money to step on stage, so if you want to cheat on your diet and let your competition get ahead of you. Then have at it, and you are the one to fault when you want to step on stage and compete vs others who were on point 24/7
If I was strict I wouldn’t be trying to loose weight right now. I am more conscious than ever of what goes in my pie hole now though. Knowing what you’re eating and giving a shit makes a big difference. I say giving a shit because there’s a huge difference between knowing something and actually doing it. Not a bodybuilder and never will be. I’m just a regular guy trying to make myself better. Seeing changes in the mirror just makes me want to keep it up.
Try training on peanut butter and a loaf of bread! Sleeping on Venice beach was no picnic either. Oh to be young and dumb again! BUT COMMITTED!
During the work week it's 95% clean, every now and than the wife knows I need something extra yummy and whips up something extra nice for me =) usually being fattier and carbier (I made that up, HA!). For the most part it's damn near bulletproof.
Over the weekend I can't help but veg out. I'm not denying myself, my wife or my kids of fun because I'm "sticking to a strict diet". That's not a way to live! What I do is keep the portions of excessive caloric food lower then I normally would or even will keep the carbs out at a particular meal. It's worked well as I lost 1-2 Pounds this weekend and I did no cardio or lift (I'm takings CUTS though and it always works well for me).
I don't want to hear about "balance". No such concept exists. There is no balance, no "normal life" there's only life! Now get on with it =)
Well I am strict with the type of beer I drink after my workout and the total number of burgers I put down in the evening. I am not strict on the number of patties on each burger or how many beers are enjoyed. Just a mixture of light humor and real talk.
nanu-nanu ( I think that's what Mork said) a couple beers and a lean burger is the norm. Not perfect for diet but it works for me. Always Responsible
I would say I am almost more strict now than ever. Strict in the sense that my diet is perfect but not strict in the sense that I am forcing myself to do it. I love eating balanced and healthy. I spend a great deal of time and money on food. It is truly the center pc of my life. Nothing makes me happier than feeling good and eating high quality food. Very very easy for me not to eat junk or shitty food. I never even think about it.
