I've battled this for 11+ years in the military, lol. I've always just had 2 separate plans - Powerlifting/bodybuilding (depending on what I was working towards at the time) and PT. If you're familiar with 60/120s (not sure what branch you were in), I did those a lot to stay in endurance shape and basically used it as HIIT cardio. I would give myself a 2mile run 2x a month to make sure I stayed within standards. As I get closer to the PT test, I'll mix it up a tad with more distance training but by then I'm already in shape that I'm just working on time/distance & improving my pt test score
