Therapy for growth and repair

I'm a huge believer when it comes to chiropractic and deep tissue massage therapy. I've used these as a staple in my recovery and growth as a bodybuilder for years. Deep tissue massage breaks open scared muscle tissue that's been beaten up in the gym. This allows your muscle fibers to stretch farther and brings in blood/nutrients to repair and grow. Chiropractic helps keep the structure in line so that all neurons fire equally which will aid in strength increase and injury prevention. A small tweak in alignment can cost weeks of set back in training. I know this can be a very opinionated topic. Some believe in it strongly like I do. Others believe it's all placebo. I've also done cupping, graston, and a few other various massage/stretching methods to aid in recovery. Let me know your opinion and if you've tried any of the same or any different therapeutic methods.

I agree. Keeping functionality in a joint and muscles at proper length tension is the key to progressing in strength sports or any sports for that matter and staying injury free. Mike Phelps does an absurd amount of therapy work per week to stay tip top!

I used to stretch, but after a serious injury had a MAT professional come over for about three months. He fixed some other muscles while at it that years of chiropractors and numerous physical therapists could not.

And he told me DO NOT stretch ever!

I've heard his therapy is insane! But if you are training to be the best at what you do then it's a must.

Personally, I would NEVER tell someone not to ever stretch. I would assume what he was referring to is to not stretch prior to training. I would advise stretching throughout training and after. Massage therapy would be at another time besides around the workout.

Imagine we had the time, money, and resources to have all that done? We would feel great in the gym all the time! They all are waiting at your house to do mobility and massage work daily? The life!

Agree but maybe the guy was saying do not do static stretching heavily prior to the muslce they are working. There is some truth to that. Partaking in dynamic stretching would be better before and static after.

Exactly! I can understand static stretching may not be the best option prior to training. I think it was a vague claim saying NEVER stretch... I just took it how I read it and wanted to be sure any other readers didn't get the idea to never stretch. Needed to be a little more specific.. as if I was the reader a few years ago just getting into bodybuilding.. I probably would have taken it wrong.

Yup! Any time someones says, "never" to anything I automatically dismiss anything they say further for there are ALWAYS exceptions.

There are no absolutes they chatter, blanking out the fact that they just uttered an absolute. Hehe

When it comes to a lot of conversations, i agree, i often find myself yearning to hear a person start a conversation with...IT DEPENDS.

I completely agree.
The only thing I´m a little sceptical towards is this new cryo therapy. Seems way too over the top for me

I see the science behind it, but how much would you be willing to spend to do it? That's my question. If price is outrageous, then I would recommend just an ice bath at home. Cost versus benefit.

Honestly, I would always choose an hour of deep tissue massage or an ART treatment over standing in a freezer for a couple seconds... Haha :D

Th science behind cryo is pretty sound for. Eap finally when they start incorporating rising a bike after to increase th blood flow. I beli be a lot of the stuff said about it and I have friends who have travelled the globe doing research with all types of athletes and many different methods of recovery who say cryo is awesome. It’s when I start hearing claims that it can eliminate cellulite that I start wondering.
