Figure I'll post... this threads been around forever. Been bodybuilding for a while but it just didn't have the same appeal it once did and became a little stagnant. I got picked for the PvsB competition for the cage this year and instantly, powerlifting overtook me.
My numbers dont really mean shit cause theyre gym lifts, even though i had someone giving me signals and watching my pause. My goal is to total elite (1471) at 198 in my first meet next year in 100% raw (natural) or SPF (closest to where I live). People say its either unrealistic, or that I'm too full of myself to shoot for that in my first meet. I don't believe either cases. I just have a dream in mind and I want to attain it, simple as that. It will be hard work, but I welcome it. Since I started my current journey here, I've added 100 pounds to my squat, 30 pounds to my bench, and 80 pounds to my deadlift. At the moment, I weigh in the low 200s (202-206 depending on food and time of day)
Squat-500
Bench-295
Deadlift-545
My bench is terrible compared to my other lifts and I've been focusing on it the best I can. I've broken both clavicles and tore my shoulder about 2 years or so ago. My torn labrum in my left shoulder still gives me some trouble every once in a while. If anyone has any suggestions, training tips and such, I am all ears. I really do love this sport and I love learning from everyone's perspectives.
I've toyed around with several programs, but nothing long term in the sense of over 4 months. I currently move heavy weight for triples or under mostly and add in speedwork and 2-3 accessory movements along with my usual 6-12 sets of squat, bench or deads. If something feels right, I do it; if somethings off, I pick something else. I am going to start cube in 2 weeks when my schedule goes back to normal.
If anyone has any advice or ideas for me, I'd love to hear it. Just drop a line in my journey.
Happy training to everyone.
