Looks pretty darn good! How you holding up anyway?
I was saying earlier that I've been an every other day kinda girl lately... With the weather changing, I've mentally been feeling better than I have been, physically I'm a bit heavier than I wanted to be, and I've been running on empty with planning a field trip with my FCA and trying to get 2 classes finished by June... Soooo busy, but sometimes that's good... lol
And you??

I get that you don't want to put TOO much stress on the lower back. But you've lifted for many years (NOT calling you old, so don't you put those words in my mouth lol) and I'm sure your low back is pretty strong. In Jan & Feb I wanted to kick start my squatting again and did a "Squat every day" routine. I squatted at least 225 or more every single day. Regardless of if I was training back/deadlifts or whatever. The body will recover.
Same thought process as you- I felt good so I kept going.

You better watch, you're already on my shit list buddy...bwahahaha
Before my surgeries, I was told that I shouldn't squat/deadlift because of the instability in my back... AFTER my 2nd surgery, I was told NO LEG PRESS either... I knew that I needed to strengthen my back or I would be in worse shape... I have really surprised myself at some of my pulls and presses, but my squat STILL sucked... I did a strength building program a couple years ago and I was VERY happy with where I had worked to get... November of 2014, another disc issue at L3-L4 sent me back to the drawing board...
When I was in prep (all of 2016), I wasn't doing heavy deads for the fear of widening my waist (which is ALREADY an issue) and my lifts became more for prettying up than building strength... I got away from HEAVY lifts and had a different focus. I had pulled 185 a couple weeks ago and it felt so good to pull like that again... My leg press is getting back up there also, but for the longest time I was shaping rather than building...
I know that I am a lot stronger than what my lifts appear to be, but there are a couple issues (maybe excuses to some people) but
1. I train by myself... I don't work with anyone as far as using a spotter, etc so THIS is one reason why I fall victim to overtraining with VOLUME because if I can do it, I will, as many times as I can... I have always been like that.
2. You would think that being with Bodey for 8 years, we could figure this shit out, but... We fight like cats and dogs about training. Either he won't budge on trying something "different" (he's an ABSOLUTE creature of habit) or he doesn't feel like I am pushing myself hard enough and it makes me feel like he thinks I suck (That's when the fighting starts)... We do not even go to the gym at the same TIME, let alone train TOGETHER... (because he doesn't know HOW I can train later in the evening AND if I want to train back on Tuesday he CAN'T or WON'T because THURSDAY is BACK Day, duh.... URGH)
3. I feel like I am just flying by the seat of my pants in the gym sometimes... I don't have a "program".. I don't have a strict regime .. My gym does not motivate me anymore (just run of the mill bullshit) and I am getting BORED with the same old equipment... I want something new, a new way of looking at things, a new focus/motivation....
And for the record, #3 is why I posted that I was creeping on someone's workouts because that person motivates me. He has been consistent in his training since I have known him, never any bullshit excuses, and NEVER "slacks" and doesn't give bs excuses... I need a kick in the ass sometimes and following his progress does that for me. I see that he gets in, does what he needs to do, and stays on course with supps/training/work/life, etc... I respect that and respect him.
And just for clarity... It wasn't really cool what was posted and I did make light of the situation, but the reality is that we are both well respected on here and the last thing that any of us want to do is to have to defend friendships that are almost 10 years strong.

I can understand all of that (except the Bodey thing, lol). Especially the part about upping the volume compared to going a little heavier because you lift without a spotter. Have you thought about finding a program or something that entices you? Even if it's a little different than your normal figure-style of training? I know my Deanna falls into that a lot, where she gets bored or in a training rut. Or she'll just continue running a program I wrote for her because it's saved on her phone and easier than her designing a new one. Even mixing in things throughout the year like Insanity or w/e, just for a change? Or have you thought about changing your goals? Maybe something like a tough mudder? To give you a change of purpose, training wise?

As far as changing things up, I tried gearing things toward PL (getting stronger) and I really liked that BUT I don't have anyone to bounce ideas off of (everyone at my gym is bodybuilding minded). There are other gyms (kinda local) but with my place being 2 minutes from my house, it's been my forever gym...lol
As far as the mudders, I have nerve damage in my right leg (little ankle stability) and running on natural or uneven surfaces is out... Heck, I can't even walk on a downward slope if my right foot is on the downside, the ankle WILL go... That's TOTALLY frustrating...
I am looking to get a tire and a sled for my place so I can do something different, and have incorporated some TRX here and there... I just feel "stuck" sometimes...
And, believe it... Bodey and I in the gym at the same time gets I... He motivates others, he hurts my feelings (not on purpose though...lol)
O-H ... ;-)

That sucks about your nerve damage. Never knew that.
You know you could always bounce ideas around in here?

Oh yeah, after my 2nd surgery the nerve didn't fully recover... It's so frustrating because I can't play volleyball like I used to :( ... I can't wear certain shoes/heels anymore... Even my competition heels have to be a wide heel instead of a stiletto type. I've even considered switching to physique for that very reason...lol

I can't even begin to tell you all the changes I've had to make to accomodate all the physical defisets. Identify the problem. Assess the severity then devise a means to an end. Oh, I definitely dispelled the myth that NOT strengthening the area would be best...lol I know when I get a twinge of nerve pain that I am looking at a couple days rest... IF I feel THAT pain, I know there's a compromise on the disc/nerve and it's time to let the inflammatory meds kick in...lol
I have wanted to be a bb'er since my teen years, but I let "boys" try to cloud my mind and tell me how girls should not have muscle OR that I didn't NEED the gym and I could do it on my own (as far as weight control etc)... Boy were they mistaken and I was smitten with them and put THEM first... Well, 18 years and 2 back surgeries later, I finally got up on stage...lol I admire the muscle and I understand the "game" being played, but it is fading due to what is needed to attain that look and the loss of femininity... I would love to step it up to physique but I admit, I am very apprehensive due to the routine... I'm not graceful in anyway....haha
Physique was going to be my focus in 2016, but ended up doing figure in 2 comps... If I decide to do anything this year, I am already behind, so who knows, maybe 2018...
