      Mr Dead,
If you are coming to the Strongest Apple on Saturday, I highly suggest you bring some folding chairs. I got no bleachers thats why. We are just blocking off an entire parking lot.

Look forward to seeing some of the WA Animals!

You know, I am not sure. I think you can bring you dog, as long as he is leashed.

Check the City of Des Moines Marina website. Maybe, you can call and confirm. I seem to recall people with their dogs at last year's show.

FYI, I am doing a news segment tomorrow morning on King5 news at 7:15am. We are doing a live broadcast, and I need to demonstrate some of the Strongman events that my competitors are doing on Saturday.
Planning to wear an "ANIMAL" beanie while I am doing it! :)

      Hey

Im having a bit of trouble with front squats ... i was curious how you do them .... i cant seem to get the right stance down an holding the bar clean style screws my wrists up .... but yet again when i try to cross my arms to hold it i feel off balance... i wanna try to find a happy median of sorts you have any advice on it?
Never be ashamed if u had a plan, and couldn't go the whole 9 yards, means u brought it and next time try an finish it. Theres nothing worse then getting thru a W/O and think "that it"? because u pussied out sumwhere. If u aint sore means u coulda gone harder

      Front squats question

      Ironjaw,

I have trouble "racking" a proper front squat too. I can't do it like an Olympic Weightlifter.

So, I use lifting straps. I wrap them around the bar at about shoulder width. I grab the end of the straps, and wrap once around my hands.
This allows me to let the bar rest completely on my upper chest/clavicle, and I can focus on keeping an upright torso. I mean that you need to "spread" your breastbone open while doing down in a squat position..
Sure, my hands are wrapped on the end of the strap, but I am not holding the brunt of the weight with my strapped hands. Most of it is on my upper chest.

Does this make sense? I'm sure alot of other guys use this technique too.
I can't cross my arms and front squat. I end up losing the bar more, and possibly dropping it on the power rack.
I'd rather focus on coming up with the bar with my hands slightly strapped in, then worry about not dropping the bar with crossed arms.

      Hope this helps bro!

      Excessive endorphins,
In that video, I don't like the way he grabbed the straps.

Personally, I like to grab the other end of the strap, and wrap it around my hand once towards the bar.
This way, I can keep my elbows up while Front Squatting.

I will try to find a better video for you, or tape one myself.

Thanks for coming to the Strongest Apple yesterday! I hope you had fun, and you are more than welcome to join us for Saturday strongman workouts.
