Just got back from the Warehouse...this will be my last workout until Sunday's Big Climb of Seattle.
675 lb Yoke for 96 feet;
204 lbs in each hand Farmers Walk for 96 feet;
694 lb Tire flip for 48 feet (I fuckin slacked & ended up flipping 1 more time cause I didn't break the finish line. Idiot Higa...)
10 plyometric jumps onto the Tire. (25.5" tall)
Yea, my plyos suck. However, I'm trying to improve them. And my legs were pretty shot after the previous 3 exercises in the circuit.
I finished the Big Climb with a time of 21 minutes 42.75 seconds.
This was 16 seconds faster than what I did last year.
I had a team of 13 members, and we raised $5,300 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Washington.
I felt like I had an easier time doing it, but started to gas out at the 60th floor a bit.
I didn't use any handrails and got my 300 lbs ass up those stairs!
Thanks to all of you on this board! Definitely gonna do it again next year, and try to break the 21 minute barrier.

Nice man. I just looked into this. I would like to participate next year.

That's awesome to hear Higa. Way to beat last year's time and raise money for such a great cause.
It was a great day of training at the Warehouse.
Alot of my fellow "Higa Monsters" were there representing my training crew, and Mr Dead & Scott came to workout with us for the first time.
Even though Mr Dead and Scott have never done this type of training before, I wanted to make sure they were comfortable with us and test out some unique & unorthodox exercises.
Alex Whitaker drove up from Monmouth, OR last night to workout with us.
He is competing in the "Golden State Strongman Challenge" on April 17th.
Farmers walk 294 lbs in each hand, then carry a 250 lb Keg for 96 feet:
HIGA MONSTER pulling a 40,000 lb tractor/trailer. We had a hard time finding a level area to do it, so just had to adjust and nut up. However, it didn't go far to my liking:
Sadly, my training partner Ryan Petrosky dropped the log onto his right foot while Eddie & Scott were doing their 20 tire flips.
Ryan's bone in his right big toe split in half, and he has a slight crack in his #2 toe. He will be out for at least 6 weeks and is on crutches & a boot.
This sucks cause he just got over healing his LEFT foot that he hurt in last Thanksgiving's Turkey Bowl. Now he injured his right foot, and will set him back again.
Thanks to Mr Dead for bringing some Animal Pak giveaways to the crew that worked out today. We also signed his banner and hope that we can do this again at the WAREHOUSE.
Higa,
Wanted to say thanks again for the oppurtunity to train with you and your crew. You guys were great hosts and I had a blast trying strongman for the first time.

No problem man. You are welcome to stop by anytime!

"In the end, we're all just chalk lines on the concrete, drawn, only to be washed away. For the time that I've been given, I am what I am."
The top 3 competitors in each weight class will qualify for the NAS Amateur National Championships that will be held in Reno, NV. (mid-November)
The overall winner of Nationals is guaranteed their Pro Card for USA Strongman.
Last year, I had a total of 38 competitors.
It included Washington, Oregon, Idaho, California and British Columbia, Canada.
The event is held at the City of Des Moines Marina, with the majestic waters of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains in the background.
The marina's Farmers Market is also adjacent to our contest area.
I hope to see some of you Animals there!
HIGA MONSTER
Awesome event, Higa. I'm going to see if there is anything out here in NJ. I like to go to an event to check it out and then enter one after some strength training.

I was able to hit a Wed afternoon workout with some of the boys today.
Pre-workout drink: Shock Therapy grape
Warm-ups of Plyo box jumps:
5 pallets high- 3 sets of 5 jumps
6 pallets high- 3 sets of 5 jumps
7 pallets high- 3 jumps (1st one was running, to build confidence. Then, did 4 sets of 5 jumps. (Personal best!)
Then, I figured fuck it, and see if I could jump onto 8 pallets.
Finally, we did some Prowler sprints:
180 lbs of plates on a 50 lb Prowler. Did a distance of 48 feet, and we tried to beat each other's time.
I did some Farmers Walk holds for time in b/w my set and Zack & Tyler's. Just so I could get some quick grip work in b/w sets.
I think we ended up doing 6-7 of these Prowler sprints.
Final comments from today's workout:
Tyler and I were thinking that if I am going for a max Box Jump, I need to reduce the amount of warm-ups I do. Instead of doing set of 5, I'm gonna cut them down to triples or singles.
I feel better doing these box jumps every week. Plus, I have been weighing at 299 lbs bw since the Arnold. I was 307 lbs BW the day I flew out to the Arnold.
Tire flip: I was just going for speed on that light tire. Next week, i am going to bust out the "pig" 874 lb tire that we have. I have to flip a 900 lb tire for 6 flips at the Sequim contest.
