Great forum of journeys here and Ive followed so many over the last year. I had another journey thread myself but it was posted shortly after the arrival of my son, and I have changed jobs, bought a house and tons of other stuff since then which limited any focus I had to post. I havent ever been great at/into social media, have FB, instagram etc but may aswell be dormant.
I did however keep my gym sessions going.
This is a journey to my first meet if its needs to have purpose as a journey thread but really its a long term, no snazzy thread title yarny yawn fest in here. I had my first meet scheduled for yesterday however I had family holidays and my body just couldnt jump back into my prep cycle blah blah blah. No excuses, all my fault for bad prep/still learning.
I have only truly, in mindset, committed to powerlifting since January. Reading all the time and trying to learn how the body works.
Today I started doing a conjugate method of training which from my studying of it suits me much better than 12 programs type training. I wont list off reasoning etc here but my body feels better for it at this moment in time and Ill feel more relaxed heading into meets with this program since I dont need to set out 12 weeks of programming.
Current Gym Maxes are ;
DL 190kg (Da Strain) - no increase this year, I havent even tried an attempt. See goals below but basically my entire posterier chain needs work. GMs, Hams, Core etc.
Bench 137.5kg (paused) - Improved 5kg this year and about 20kg in the last 12 months. Has stalled given waves of programming doesnt work for my bench. Last year 2-3 sessions a week doing 5s, 3s and 1s made it shoot up.
Squat 190kg (smooth lift) - Up 10kg this year, 180kg before xmas was a super grinder while 190kg recently was smooth so have more in the tank.
GOALS;
- Work the weak areas I have completely neglected (Posterier Chain, HAMS, ABS/Core)
- Successfully do the conjugate method.
- Keep learning
- 200kg squat and deadlift pre Xmas. 140kg Bench pre Xmas.
- finally, do a meet.

Im going to spend time over the coming weeks finding my maxes on the special exercises under conjugate, looking forward to the challenge. Ill cycle the ME exercise every 2 weeks, next week ill hit 145 or 150kg.
SBB Good Mornings
Light weight x 3 sets of 8 reps. Working my weakness, my body finds it tough to do the full ROM so Ill use this as a supplemental exercise until my body adapts and can do 5RM/3RM stuff.
Reverse Hypers x 4
Ab Pulldowns x 4
Lat pulldowns x 4
Tomorrow ME Bench, havent decided the type of bench yet (maybe floor press or WG bench).
