So I saw the shoulder guy. Of course I need an MRI now. The ultrasound wasn’t good enough. Good news is I already got an appointment for this weekend. Then I go at the end of the month for details on the surgery. He said I probably won’t be able to lift for 6 months. That sucks, but at least the ball is rolling. He said if I don’t get it fixed the rotator cuff will just continue to tear over time. Then when it hurts too much, or I can’t use my arm, it becomes a salvage surgery. Better now than later.

Geez! Well, be glad you caught it now. I've known plenty of people who have had to have multiple rotator cuff surgeries. Can't shoot a gun, operate a boat, swing a golf club, etc for YEARS! All because they kept putting it off.
Good news. After the MRI I got a message from the orthopedic doctor. He said it looks likely I’ll have arthroscopic surgery. That means I’m back in action faster. I can’t wait! I walked into work this morning and 2 doctors and 2 nurses were talking about deadlifts. They were complaining about them and one doctor said he would rather squat. A million things went through my head about DL and squat form and the difference between the 2 lifts beginning fro the starting points. I just kept my mouth shut though

GREAT NEWS!
Doctors are completely clueless and waaaaaaaaaay behind when it comes to lifting and nutrition. They still operate on guidelines and theories from the 70's. Good for you for biting your tongue! I would have just laughed my ass off the whole time.
Going under the knife on 2/24. It’s official. About 4-6 weeks out I’ll start PT. Looks like 3 months of recovery before I can start trading. Better than 6 months.

I hate to have to even do this but I’m excited to get it done. I can’t wait to get back to some kind of training. In other news I passed on my Arnold Schwarzenegger Encyclopedia of Bodybuilding to my grandson. He’s going to Planet Fitness with his step dad. I have to get my shoulder done so he can embarrass me in the gym LOL.

Ran to the store today. While looking at stuff this guy comes up and asks if he can ask me a question. He was a personal trainer at “a local gym” and he wanted to set me up with a membership and “free fitness assessment”. I told him half of the crap I have going on and he still said he could work with me. I just showed him my Animal shirt and told him I still belong to a gym and he backed off. Really? What’s he gonna have me do, curls? I effed my shoulder up fixing a toilet yesterday. Not ready for the gym until middle of May-June.

It's the hustle. Literally like door to door salesman cold contacting people hoping to drum up clients. It didn't matter what you got going on. He could fix it. For at least a few sessions until you figure out how useless his shit is and then move on. But, he still got paid.

LOL! Oh how true this is.
Scrawny knucklehead trainers with that cheesy used car salesman smile....
So I had my surgery on the 24th. I went in at 0600 and was out at noon. Got my rotator cuff sewn, the tendon repair and he had to move my biceps tendon half way down the ball of my shoulder. I got an ultrasound guided nerve block in pre op. I had no pain the first 2 days, then the nerve block wore off LOL. Sunday was the worst so far. They gave me a bunch of meds, but on Sunday I used a couple of muscle relaxers and Tylenol. That’s it. I have 7 little incisions and I’m wearing a shoulder immobilizer. I physically can’t chicken wing my arm or flex my bicep. I took a shower yesterday and I really can’t move it much on my own yet. Basically it feels way better than I had hoped. The wife already yelled at me for trying to do stuff. Should start physical therapy at the 6 week mark. I think the stitches come out in 10 days. Baby steps.
