My gym is hosting a power lifting meet in February. I’m way overdue to complete so I’m going to have to sign up and clear my work schedule for that weekend. Had a good chat with one of the guys at the gym about it and our training today.
Last week on my trip I discovered the perfect post work out food. Baked oatmeal. I never considered baking it before. Recipe I used today is going up. Had a bowl and washed it down with an Ultra Whey Pro shake.

I’m planning on competing in February. I have only seen a FB post about a meet and no flyers or nothing in the gym. It’s a fundraiser for the gym, you’d think they would have something up advertised. Anyway, reloading the program since I would be 13-14 weeks out now. The holidays will mess things up too. I pulled a Jim Wendler and added 5 lbs to my bench and OHP and 10 lbs to my squat and DL maxes. Going to be training my deads starting tomorrow. My training maxes for deads is 10 lbs over my actual best. I plan on hitting this aggressively. We’ll see how it goes, but I want to hit 500 in the meet.

Like I said, my DL max is a bit gimped. I did triples instead of fives because I honestly couldn’t do 5x5 with this weight yet. Probably had 2 sets of 5 in me then I would have just broken myself on the next 3 sets. That would set me up for prolonged recovery hurting my other lifts and it’s only week one. So I backed off some til I get used to pulling again. It will come back.

Missed Wednesday due to work. Going to miss tomorrow as the gym will be closed. Looks like they’re going to knock down part of a wall. Doubled down today. Came out of the gate strong on OHP and nailed 2 reps on my first set of 5 singles. Felt good today
