I got real shakey at the end here. I was sweating my ass off the whole time too. I guess I’m still not quite done being sick. Today is day 10 of 10 of my antibiotics. Plus it’s raining today fucking up my sinuses more.
hopefully those meds start to kick in and boot that virus. Looks like you managed a good amount of volume anyways.

Went in this AM and got in a few sets of B.B. row. I could feel my legs sweating just from that. Then some nausea hit me so I just called it a day. I had strep throat for sure and my wife thinks I had the flu too. I have to shake the last bits of it out of my system.
Weighed in at 274. I was sitting around 290 for a long time. Hopefully I can keep the weight down as I rebuild my legs. It would be cool to get to 255.

Feeling better. Had me more of a bench press day to kind of hit everything since my last session didn’t go well and tomorrow is Easter and gym will be closed. I almost went for 7 on my 320 set. I paused at the top and considered I didn’t have a spot and I just got over being sick. Choose not to press my luck.

Feeling like crap. Work has kicked my butt. I did a couple days in triage and was pushing people around on carts alot so my knee is banging as well as an ankle. Haven't trained to hopefully feel better. I plan on going in tomorrow. Not doing my "leg day" this week.

Nothing sexy but I got something done. Got some blood flowing. Certainly not 100% and didn’t expect to be. Hopefully next week things change direction for me.

EZ bar press down
130x12
145x12
160x12 - I have to laugh at these “weights”
Walking drop sets
55 x12/12/12
70 x10/10/10
Done.
My strength still isn’t there yet. Hopefully I’ll be decent for my 1+ week next week. If not, I’m reloading this 5/3/1 cycle to get good reps in, then, once I’ve earned it I’ll bump up the weights. Good day today anyway. Feeling good. Knee still a problem. Getting up and down for floor press was a little challenging. Let it rip Getting up on one set too LOL. I might squat to a high box tomorrow. We’ll see how I’m feeling.

bench work looked pretty good. i also have no idea what the numbers on the push down are supposed to represent theyre just marks for identification imo, so you can move up in similar integers. how is your neck/trap feeling?

Thanks. My neck is pain free. My left rear delta is still flat. I’ve been keeping the weight low and reps high on B.B. rows so I don’t notice much weakness there. On Kroc rows there’s definitely a difference. Even my movement pattern with my left arm is different than the right. I know I’m not going to town on the Kroc’s so I keep them at the end where weight would be lighter anyway. Rear delta flyers I’ve gone from 5lb DB’s to 20’s. Lots of progress there. Otherwise I think I’ve adapted to it.
My left knee is the one I’ve been dealing with for the past several months. It’s not doing bad now. Last week I did something to my right ankle at work, and it’s better now, but now my right knee is giving me shit. Probably from limping. I have pain just below the knee cap. It was bad this AM so I’m not going to go play with my legs today. I’m staying home and foam rolling and stretching. I have a stretching book, but I need a copy of Supple Leopard.
I’m going Paleo. Going to start soon. Kind of in a learning phase. The book I have is explaining all kinds of dietary disasters I’m taking part in. I’m excited to start this and it fits in with what my wife is doing too which is huge.

5 med sweet potatoes
6 slices unsmoked bacon
2lbs ground beef
4 garlic cloves finely chopped
3 med red onions
4 tsp smoked paprika
1-2 tbsp cayenne chilli
4 tsp oregano
2 tbsp mixed herbs
3 heaping tbsp tomato paste
12 eggs
salt and pepper
Yes! That said 12 eggs!!!
1. Preheat oven to 350
2. cut sweet potatoes into 1/2 inch slices, chop the bacon into strips, peel and slice the onions
3. cook bacon in pan over med heat until slightly browned, remove and set aside
4. add ground beef, garlic and onions to pan and stir fry. Add spices and tomato paste. Continue to fry for an additional 10 min, stirring occasionally until the meat is browned and onions have softened.
5. while the meat is cooking prepare the eggs. scramble them in a large bowl and add salt and pepper
6. grease the sides of a 9x13 casserole dish. layer the dish several times in this order
*sweet potato slices
*scattered bacon
*meat
7. repeat the layers until you have no ingredients left, then pour the eggs over the top. Move the dish side to side to get the eggs in all the gaps.
8. place in oven for one hour.
I'm thinking I'm adding more bacon to mine LOL. I just want to say I cooked something with 12 eggs. How crazy is that? This is 100% muscle food.

yea thats rough, the right knee is almost certinly a result of baring more weight in an unnatural motion from limping. hope the ankle i nothing serious, and the day off gives you the needed recovery man. as for the paleo thing, thats way cool. any advantage you can give yourself why not do it, right?

That dish looks fantastic! I’m going to have to try it later this week.

I made it that night. It was amazing. I used thick cut bacon and used the whole package, not just 6 pieces. I got a bottle of mixed herbs at the store and it had fennel in it which I think really made it. Something I would do differently next time is boil or microwave my sweet potatoes a little before layering them in the dish. The top layer didn’t cook all the way. You have to try this. It was very filling too. I thought I was going to tear through it but ate half as much as I thought. My wife kept saying “oh my God! Oh my God!” At least I can make her do that with food :)

V-bar press down

Done.
Don’t know what happened with the 355 bench. Last time I got 4 reps. Today one. I was in denial so I went for it again thinking my set up was off or I wasn’t tight enough. Nope. Got pissed at myself and 355 went up x2 off the pins. So did 365. Moved up to 375 and just got an inch off the pins. Soooo looks like I will reload this cycle of 5/3/1 and get better #s. Feeling good, just need new knees and ankles LOL.
The paleo diet is going good. One week in now. Had to have bread a couple times but otherwise it’s been good. I’ve been good staying away from processed foods too like lunch meat. Weighed in at 270 today so I dropped another 4 lbs. I need to get things prepared ahead of time so I have food handy. I find myself wanting veggies for the first time in my life LOL.

Generally for me when my body weight goes down my presses are negatively affected. Once your body weight stabilizes it should recover and improve.
I've also changed my eating plan recently. Very low carb, high fat and protein. I've been on 20-30g of carbs a day since Monday and everything feels pretty good. I figure I'm going to continue the low carb unless my performance goes to shit, we'll see. I'm positive that you will be happy with your dietary changes.

I doubt it’s the diet at this point. It’s only been a week and it’s not really low carb. I’ve been eating lots of sweet potatoes and increased how much fruit I eat along with the veggies. All I’ve really done is cut breads and grains out. Still using dairy.

So I only trained once this past week. On Tuesday morning it snowed little ice balls here. My son was going to work north of Detroit. We live south of Detroit. He ended up totaling his car hitting a semi on the expressway. He’s fine, just banged up. Thursday he got a call from the ambulance crew who was on scene and they had his wallet. So he drives out to get it avoided the expressway sine that’s all raw for him. On the way back he gets his car surrounded and car jacked at gun point. Again, he’s OK. But it’s been a crazy week. Insurance paid for a rental for now and we have to wait to see if my wife’s car turns up.
This coming week will be screwed up too as we have a destination wedding to go to this coming weekend. I plan on reloading 5/3/1 after that so I can get an uninterrupted cycle in. Whatever I do this week will just be what I feel like.
