That you did, bro -- a great day!
*grin* yep. Looking forward to really getting my grow on once I get my kidney issues settled.
Oh, I LIKE those well enough, but this seems to hit things more completely. Between the stretched position on the ball, to the crunches, to the hypers and the hanging leg raises (which are done to left, middle and right counting as one rep), it gets the whole core area.
Give it a shot! See my note above -- the hanging leg raises are done to left, middle and right.
Well, you guys had the big Cleveland session yesterday, with the pros, and we've got San Diego in two weeks, then Golds Venice, then American Eagle Gym with the "O" road trip . . . then off to the Olympia, with yet another ABC the day after. It promises to be sensory overload.
Yeah, the chest is nice and tight today, especially after hitting some more dips today -- this time with chains around my neck.
We went to a great little "hole-in-the-wall" gym today in El Segundo, called "4 Star Gym". Tempus, Shogun-6, Azn-Beef and I made the trek (I had the furthest to go for once). VERY old school -- limited equipment, but hardcore -- chalk, chains and lots of iron.
I did:
Close Stance Smith Squats -- 135 x 10, 185 x 10, 185 x 10
Smith Squats: 135 x 10, 185 x 6, 225 x 8, 275 x 8, 295 x 6 . . . didn't feel like going to 305 today . . . the kidney was making the low back real tight.
now, I was supposed to do leg presses and hacks after this, but this place didn't have those machines available, so . . .
.
Sled pulls: 2 plates -- 2 trips . . . I can tell my extensors need a lot of work. I wish I had one of these available regularly
Dips with Chain: 1 Chain x 10, 2 Chains x 10, 3 Chains x 6 (one slipped), then 4 more. I've decided I REALLY like this variant -- I like where the emphasis falls, different from hanging the plate from my waist.
Belt Squats -- on raised platform with a weight on a belt hanging below my feet between my legs, hanging on to a support for balance. 35 x 15, 75 x 15, 75 x 15 -- neat move -- the lower quads really felt it.
There wasn't a calf machine, and it didn't occur to me to do them in the Smith machine till too late. Oh, well.
Not an epic workout, but not a bad one.
Then we walked down the block to a great little BBQ place -- and I demolished a 22 oz. ribeye, potato salad, cucumber salad and sweet tea. THEN they gave us these little custard filled doughnut holes. Definitely not a cutting diet. <grin>
I then drove the 50+ miles home and took a nap for an hour or so. The video I shot is being processed for stabilization by the computer, and I'll hope to put 'em up in a bit.
