And that was it. Needed to go by the store and get some stuff packed for the Army so I wanted to make sure I didn't waste any time. Good workout though. Hit the 495 (which was my target weight for the workout) pretty easily, so I felt like I had no choice but to add the 2.5s to make it an even 500 lol. Went up nice and smoothly. Started my last big push for the end of the year. I didn't feel so good at work all day and debated like, 8x, on getting pizza or wings on my way home, ha. But I knew I needed to get in a good deadlift workout because I won't be able to lift Thurs-Sun, so I sucked it up and had some chicken instead and had a really good workout.

It is thank you. I'm taking the slow & steady approach, hampered by not being able to fully extend it, but size & strength are returning.
Keeping it fairly on the quiet over here but got half an eyeball on walking out on stage at the end of next year because firstly I miss it & secondly I refuse to allow an injury to end things for me, even if I only compete one last time (but continue to train) it'll be the last time on my terms, not a twist of fate.

Phew. Solid day. I said I wanted to give myself a strong push until Dec 31 to see where I’m at (to use it as starting point for 2018) so I started smolov tonight. It’s the hardest but most rewarding squat routine I’ve done, so I want to give it a go again. I’ll at least make it through the first 8 weeks, which were the biggest jump for me last time I did it, so we will see. Issue I’ve just ran into is I start full time with the Army on the 15th, and just found out the next PT test for the active guys is the 17th. I was planning on it in June, but I should still be ok. Going to pound away some cardio over the next 10 days though to be safe. Should be an interesting start to smolov lol

Cardio so far this week (Mon & Tues) - 12.75miles. Keeping track of it to remember/remind myself. Goal will be at least 25 miles by Saturday. Then another 20 miles Sun-Wed. Then I'll take off Thursday and do nothing but foam rolling out and stretching, then pt test on Friday. I did NOT want to have to pummel myself like this, but like I said earlier I JUST found out that my pt test will be next Friday instead of June so I need to make sure I do all I can to get the highest score I can.

Got in lots of good training last week, but mostly concerned with getting ready for my PT test. Averaged 4-6 miles of cardio a day, up to 10 miles on Monday. But I passed it this am. Went to the gym after work to do a light pumping full body workout. Tomorrow I’ll start back with squats.

Hey man. So it will depend on the branch. Army, Air Force, and Navy/Marines all are a little different. Army’s is: 2 mins push ups, 2 mins sit ups, 2 mile run. You have a minimum you have to hit in all 3 events in order to pass (and it’ll vary based on your age & gender). Each rep or couple of seconds faster after that is additional points. The higher the number of points you get, the more it helps come promotion time.

Training has sort of been all over the place. Not in a bad way, just not very structured. Finally started my new job (hopefully last one for the next 20 years or so) and have been figuring out times on getting kids to school, getting to work, gym, etc. Several very strong workouts still. Bench has been the biggest ‘stall’ recently. Hit 400 a few weeks ago and I’ve been able to hit it again a few times since but that’s it. So backing down the weight a tad for more reps. More doubles and triples. Last chest day I worked up to 5 sets of 1 or 2 @ 365 (as an example). Going to start back on 5/3/1 at beginning of year for a few cycles and go from there. Also going to start giving myself separate days for conventional & sumo pulling. I still want to put a lot of focus into Deads and want to see basically what happens with an added pull day. It’ll basically go Day 1- Conventional, Rack pulls, and upper back work. Day 2- Sumo, deficit, stiffs, good mornings. Trying to make sure I give myself well rounded workouts during the week. Going to run this approach for 12-15 weeks or so and see where I’m at. There’s always a lot of trial and error when it comes to learning your body so we’ll see what happens.

Overall a good day. Got my plans together for first quarter of the year, so will ease out of 2017 and push strong into 2018. I've started foam rolling a lot more again and it's definitely helping. Going to start working more on recovery aspects more like I always use to. Just things I've gotten away from like stretching my hips out more and doing yoga for IT bands/low back. Stuff that always helped me a lot that I just sort of got away from. Excited for 2018 to see what sort of numbers I can reach if I focus on powerlifting primarily.

Update- lemonade is hands down my favorite flavor. I really like the blue rasp, and I have the orange flavor arriving today, but the lemonade is fantastic. Hoping orange has a similar taste to the OG Rage flavor
