Here's my all time favorite snack recipe. I will shpow you how to alter it for kids as well. It's a healthy alternative to junk food, and just as tasty. A friend of mine, who is now a chef in France, showed me how to make these 30 years ago when we were in kindergarten (Holy S***... I'm getting old). Well, he gave me a realy basic recipe that I tweaked.
Banana Burrito:
1 big ass banana
1 flour tortilla
3 tbsp peanut butter (creamy)
1 scoop chocolate protein powder
Step 1. Mix peanut butter and protein powder in a small bowl.
Step 2. Spread mixture on flour tortilla
Step 3. Roll big ass banana up in tortilla
Step 4. Eat it
Step 5. Repeat steps 1-4
(hehehehehehehehehe)
This is an amazing treat that you can eat most of the year. If you buy sugar free/low fat PB and whole wheat tortillas you can even eat these while cutting.
For your kids, change the protein powder to 2 tbsp Sugar Free Carnation Instant Breakfast. My sons (12 years old and 4 1/2 years old) choose these over ice cream!! And with the sugar free instant breakfast, they can eat them all day and you don't need to worry.
Let me know what you guys think of this recipe or how you tweak it to make it your own. I've been eating it the same way for so many years that I'm looking forward to some new variations. Enjoy brothers.

I have begun reading this thread and it brings me to a question that has plagued me for so long. When you research all of the things there is alot of crossover with some of these supplements Meaning you will have 2 or more items that essentially do the same thing.
How do you cut through all the tape to find out what is really the thing a person needs for the body? Trial and error?

Trial and error always works best. If I add a new supplement this is what I do to see how/if it works.
1. Stop taking other supplements that would have similar effects for at least a few days
2. Use the supplement for 1-2 weeks (depending on what effects are expected)
3. Decide if it is worth the cost
4. Add back in similar supplements and see if they counteract or compliment
With these steps, I've been able to get the most out of my supplement pile (some people call their's a "stack"). This also allows me to use more unknown, overlooked basic supplements and use them to their full potential. I would rather have two of them like garlic & cinnamon that have similar effects than overuse one of them to the point my body won't respond to it.
Since my tips have been dealing mostly with supplements, I've decided to throw in a new bicep training technique for you as Bruiser's Tip #9. I call this Bruiser's Bicep Blowout. We've all hit the wall with arm growth at one time or another. Your triceps start to overpower, there's no peak, no thickness, no density, etc. Here's a technique that's sure to kickstart some new growth.
You'll need a preacher curl bench and four dumbbells.
Take the weight for one arm dumbbell curls that you rep for 8-10 (for example we'll call it 35 lbs). Another dumbbell will be five less pounds (30 lb dumbbell). Then another five less (25 lbs). Finally another five less (20 lbs.) It's important to have four dumbbells for this, becasue you need to move quickly from one weight to the next with no rest periods except for what you get while the other arm is curling. It's like a psychotic and twisted variation of drop sets. But instead you go up.
Set 1: Do these with no break in between. Your rest period is while the other arm is curling.
Part One: 20 reps each arm with the 20 lb dumbbell on the preacher curl
Part Two: 15 reps each arm with the 25 lb
Part Three: 10 reps each arm with the 30 lb
Part Four: 5 reps each arm with the 35 lb.
Rest 60 seconds and repeat for four sets.
You will be getting 50 reps per set/each arm. With doing four sets you end up hitting 200 reps/each arm. On arm day, you can do just this technique for biceps and knock it out in less than ten minutes. You won't be able to move your arms for two days, but this will kickstart some SERIOUS new growth. I do these once or twice a month. These will add some peak, density and thickness. ATTEMPT AT YOUR OWN RISK!!
hell yeah man! i am definitely going to give this one a try, it sounds brutal!
It's definately brutal!! Plus it's great to have in your arsenal when it's arm day, you're low on time but still want to get a good workout in. It seriously only takes about ten minutes and it COMPLETELY destroys you. By doing these on the preacher curl, there is no cheating. It really pounds the bicep. I've tried just about every "Hardcore" training method and this hits my biceps better than anything I've ever done.It just kind of came to me one day. I don't know what's wrong with me.
I just realized that I forgot to reply to this one. First I want to make sure that everyone remembers, I have no particular training or background in any of this, so I'm just giving my opinion and this is all for "ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY" (I ain't getting sued). Now, my felings about calcium and kidney damage is this:
With the amount of dairy consumed in this country, and the fact that doctor's recomend calcium supplements... I don't see how there could be much merit to the question. Especially when it has been proven how important calcium is for infants and young children. I sure hope they aren't telling us to give unhealthy amounts of calcium to our young children. (like I said, I hope)
Thanks, man!
The Magnesium and Zinc from CALCIUM, ZINC AND MAGNESIUM are the same from ZMA? Is there any difference?

The magnesium found in ZMA is magnesium aspertate. I've done a lot of research to try to find any substantial difference between the many forms of magnesium (aspertate, citrate, etc). All I can find is that it comes down to how they break down in the body and bioavailabilty. It seems the body responds better to aspertate. With my own trial and errror, I haven't seen enough difference to make the higher cost of ZMA worthwhile (compared to the standard Calcium/Magnesium/Zinc supplements found in every grocery store and pharmacy). If you take ZMA, discontinue it for a week and then start the Calc/Magn/Zinc and see if you notice any change. I found that my body benefitted from this change... and so did my wallet.

man, you are a sort of wikipedia!
there is one thing that keeps in my mind.
on the label of any ZMA you can find - "For best results, avoid taking with dairy or other calcium-containing foods or supplements."
Why ?
Following this point of view, we shouldn't take Cal/mag/zinc.
I only take Ca/Ma/Zn, though.

This has bugged me too. My best guess (and it is a guess) is one of two things.
1. Maybe calcium interferes with that variation of magnesium (aspertate), such as bioavailability
2. They say that to keep people away from the cheaper (and in my opinion more efficient/effective) Ca/Ma/Zn
This is an unpleasant topic and tip, but it needs to be mentioned. Anyone who trains seriously and lifts heavy weights for long enough will deal with these two unfriendly side effects. One we love to call "Baboon Ass" or "Monkey Butt", but whatever we call it, we all know chafing SUCKS!! And so do hemorrhoids... yes the other roid rage. We've all been to the point where the chafing is so bad that it hurts to walk, and the hemorrhoids are so bad you want to attack them with a wire brush (never a good idea, trust me). Well, after dealing with a with horendous case of what I lovingly refer to as "Swamp Ass" and having none of the store bought solutions actually help, I decided to try something out. And it worked amazingly well. Cold cream (Noxzema). That's it. Hop in the shower and use it generously on the affected "area". Let it sit there for a few minutes before rinsing it off. Done. I couldn't believe how good this worked. Just be sure not to double dip (especially if you have a spouse). That's a mistake you'll only make once. This is a great trick to do before you go to bed. Remember: Confucius Say - He who goes to bed with itchy asshole wakes up with smelly finger...

I think it'd be weird to thank you for this, so I'll give an ambiguous head nod..

HAHAHAHA... this tip got more views than any of my other ones so far... but no comments, strange. (I guess everyone is too busy buying cold cream to reply, hehehehehe).
Since I'm in the sport of bodybuilding just for me and will never step on stage, I figure I can give away my personal secrets to my cutting cycle. So over the next few days, my tips will all fall under the category of " Bruiser's Cuttings Secrets". If I ever do decided to compete though... I will need to find each and every one of you and erase all memories of my tips... lol. I'm starting my cut today and here's one of the main tricks that I've found to get myself going.
First Cutting Secret: 36 Hour Fasting
I always start my cutting cycle by fasting for 36 hours. For example, I start my cut today, so I had my last meal last night at 7pm and I won't eat again until tomorrow morning at 7am. I take my Pak, Aminos and Uni-Liver to keep from going too catabolic. I take three Amino 1900s every two hours (7 times a day) and three Uni-Liver tablets every 3 1/2 hours (5 times a day) and take two Paks. Plus I still take my other basic supplements throughout the day. I've found that by fasting, I clean my body out and give myself a fesh start and can see where I'm at. Also, after fasting my body doesn't mind being carb deprived as much since it's finally getting SOME food. So a lot less cravings that first week.
I only recomend trying this if you can take the day off (because of dizziness and weakness), if you are taking aminos and/or liver tabs as well as doubling up on your Pak.

A great treat for all.
I have to say that I tried this but I couldn't do it with straight peanut butter. It had me coughing so instead I used peanut butter and jelly. It wasn't bad but I found if you allow it to sit for a while the jelly begins to run. I used it for my breaks at work. The tortilla though who whole wheat but ALOT of carbs to it. I didn't have any whey protein with it though.

I'm glad you gave it a shot. It's got a lot of carbs, but I love this for bulking. Without the protein powder, it's the perfect snack/treat for my sons. When a 4 1/2 year old and a 12 year old will take this over cookies and cake, youknow it's good! lol
My favorite is mixing the PB with chocolate protein powder before spreading it on. It cuts down on how "pasty" it tastes, and you can't beat chocolate, PB and banana for a flavor combo.
I'll post another recipe later this week after a few more cutting secrets.
I'll try to post another cutting secret tomorrow. I've been up for the last two days with my 4 1/2 year old son. The poor little guy has been so sick and miserable. But I got another good tip coming your way.
Here we go with round two of cutting. Now when it comes to training I've always felt that if you're not sweating... you're not working hard enough. This goes double for cardio. Now I know this is no "Secret" but I've got my own way of making sure that I look like I jumped in the pool with my clothes on when I'm done with cardio.
2nd Cutting Secret: Warm Yourself Up From the Outside
I see a lot of guys doing cardio in shorts and a shirt. I always used to do this too. But somedays no matter how hard I worked, I just couldn't work up a sweat. So I started to experiment with warming up my body before I did cardio. I don't mean stretching, I mean physically heating myself up. Here's a few examples of what I do. Sometimes I do all of them.
*I do these while waiting the 45-60 minutes for my Animal Cuts to kick in
1. Sit with a heating pad on my back
2. Put on two layers of sweats
3. Wear a stocking hat
4. Cover up with a big blanket
5. Take a steaming hot shower
Now I actually do all of these! I take my Cuts and then throw on my 2 pairs of sweats and my stocking hat. I sit down with the heating pad and cover myself up with a big blanket. Then right before I start my cardio, I'll take a quick steaming hot shower and then throw all the clothes back on and get doing my cardio before I can cool down. Now I know a lot of guys think this just does the same as a sauna suit... but it doesn't. I've really noticed a big difference in how fast I burn fat now. And when I'm done... I know I worked from the sweat and stink dripping off me.
