So you didnt lose any muscle while on keto? Im hearing mixed things, some people are saying they lost large amounts of muscle, while others say they maintained.. even gained some while on keto.
you wont loose muscle man, keto is anturally protein sparing. People htink they loose muscle because they have a lot less glycogen and their muscle's don't feel as full, but that bounces back almost instantly when you transition back to a diet with carbs, you'll actually see an explosion of definition. For this reason, I personally believe keto is better for higher bf%'s. When I ran it in the past, I would run it until I hit around 10%, then switch over to a more standard cut diet to finish it off.
If your interested in it, definitely research it a lot before you give it a go. Keto requires more planning and calculating than a standard cut, especially from the standpoint of keeping your protein levels appropriate for the diet. Most guys have had "eat shit loads of protein" drilled into their heads since the first stepped in the gym, then when they try keto, they are afraid to not eat enough protein. Keto is not a high protein diet, it is a high fat, medium protein, zero(ish) carb diet. Too much protein will keep you from reaching true ketosis. Don't make that mistake man.

Thanks man that sounds like some real good advice. How much protein would you suggest a day? Im about 210lbs and idk my bodyfat percentage im assuming around 20-25%. Im hearing some guys say 1g per lb of lean* body mass. so thatd be like 160-170ish for me, and some say 300gs?
Hey Charlie. This is response to the message you left on my page, since you do not accept private messages or visitor messages i am posting what I have to say on here.

Can you show me the "idiotic question" I asked after your post, because there was no question at all? Talking shit over a computer is pretty imature and last time I checked your the elder here. So I'm gunna be the bigger better person here and say im sorry for whatever I did to get your panties in a bunch, I replied to your post in a complementive way, i said "you look great after keto". I did not see your post or pics until after your second comment. My post was intended on learning as much about keto as possible. the post where im asking questions wasnt directed towards you and none were "rude". Iv never dieted before so im trying to learn*. thats what this forum is for.. learning and teaching. Not being derogatory and being negative like you have been sir. Nowhere in that thread did i say the diet did not work for you. I actually think it worked great for you and you look awesome after it. Are you just mad because I missed your post? I have certainly in no way being disrespectful in any post i have made here. You sir have been disrespectful and theres no need for it, i apologised and am sorry for w.e i did, but im new here and my impression of this place is "the non bullshit approach" which you certainly are not displaying.
Totally unsuccessful as you can see I now weigh over 300 lbs see what eating fat gets you whatever.

I haven't run keto in a while and don't have all the numbers/calculations in front of me, but i think 1g protein per pound of lbm is right.
I would suggest though, that you drop more than 20 lbs. If you run keto, your going to drop a huge amount of water weight right off the bat, which will slow after about 2 weeks. I would not suggest thinking in lbs, but in bf%. Try to drop 10-15% bf, not lbs. The scale is basically irrelevant. Since you're 20-25%, that's pretty high, but keto is perfect for that. Just do your research and shoot me a pm if you need any help, I have helped plenty of people with keto in the past, even your new best friend charlie haha.

Okay thanks man, and how much weight do you think i should drop? and yes my body fat is high but i also have a lot of mass under there so i gotta get rid of it, and ok will do man thanks for your help! Would you mind giving me an example of your diet and what foods are high in protein and fat?
The only difference is that there isnt an "egg white" protein now. Everything but the salmon is relatively inexpensive, which is a nice thing about Keto.

Thanks for taking the time to find that for me. Big help there, as I now have a general idea how to lay out my diet.
Meal 6(10:30pm): 2 cups lettuce, 1/4 cup italian dressing, 3 large eggs, 2 slices bacon, animal flex.
So thats what I have come up with so far, I have not made up my weekend carb load yet, anyone have any suggestions? hmm..
Oh yeah and my daily totals are (carbs 41g, fat 183g, protein 163g, cals 2522) my body weight is at 210 and im up around 25% body fat.

Reason: adding info
Get rid of the milk. There is too man carbs in milk. If you need something to thicken your protein shake, add some unsweetened almond milk. 8 oz. of almond milk contains only 2g of carbs.
Other than that, your diet could use more protein, as it does not contain enough fat to replace the calories needed for true keto diet. So I think you may need more calories but I don't know if you mentioned how much you weighed and your bf or not.

Your protein is too low, I'm pretty sure.

Everyone has been telling me 1g per lb of lean body mass. I'm 210 with around 20-25% body fat. That comes out to around 165-170 g protein.

Well see heres one place where keto dieting gets messed up. If you say that an extremely low carb, high protein, moderate fat diet is keto, you will get your head torn off around here by people who want to seem smart and are looking for a debate because they have nothing else to do in their lives. So I've come to understand what a "real" keto diet is, is high fat, moderate protein, and extremely low carbs. I didn't know which one you were going for.
I apologize for not seeing your weight a bf. That looks find for your stats. Your diet is pretty solid if you are going for the "real" keto diet as preached by Lyle McDonald or Dr. Mauro DePasquale.
But like I said, get rid of the milk. Instead of milk with your whey shake PWO, throw a Tbsp of natty pb in there. It tastes really good. Don't worry about the pb slowing down the digestion of your protein, as the aminos will get to your muscles and the whole point of a keto diet is not to have insulin spikes. Also, Almond Milk would work depending on how many calories you have left to work with in the day. And if you don't have one already, get a zero carb whey isolate....It makes a difference.

Exactly, for some reason this seems lost on so many people. People are afraid of lowering their protein, run it high protein/med fat, then bitch that it doesn't work and flame it to everyone else.
I dunno, I'm not trying to be afraid of doing the protein, it's just what I read Evan Centopani preaching and I would assume he knows what he's doing. I have no idea about keto, because I'm as new to dieting as Matt is.
