I did this again and it went a bit better than last time. Based on how the 275 set felt, I wouldn't have guessed it would have gone that well.
Decided it was time to add more weight to the deadlift bar. That extra 50 lbs sure made a difference in the effort. Like usual this was all done giant set style with no breaks other than to walk to the next station.
Nice lifetime PR's! I got close to 5 hundo myself DANGIT! Best is 475 x 1 before the BP started acting up.
I keep flirting with the idea getting back up to 500 again. Last time I tried in 2016, I got burnt out at 475 and really haven't seriously gone after it since.

I'll be 39 this year too and at this point in our lives, there's no point. Risk injury? Nah. Risk being wore out from pushing too hard and can't focus at work? Nah. Jump on gear for grins risking internal health? Nah.

I would say this went better than last time. I'm considering what my next step is gonna be. I think I am going to add a set in between 275 and 340 and get accustomed to the increase in volume before I push the top set up. That way I don't have too large of a gap between those two sets.
Not all necessarily around each other in time. Most of those PRs are several years from each other.
That’s big boy weight for sure.

Know what I mean?
In my mind I just wanted to hit 405 on the bench one more time then back off. I’m paying the price and I haven’t gotten close. It’s so hard to back down when chasing those kind of numbers have been such a big part of our lives for so long. It’s part ego and part just programming yourself to go for more.

After I hurt my back in 2014, it was kind of a slow trip to realization that it wasn't a temporary layoff, but rather likely never again. Maybe technology will change that, but right now it's not happening.

It's a constant, life-long battle for self improvement however we see fit. The individual goals change over time but the drive is always alive!

Ok, I added the extra "in between" set in and things went well considering I felt pretty tired. Now I gotta decide which set I am going to increase first. Maybe alternate.

Yeah considering that, that was really good to get the 12.
