I have hip bones that are a tiny bit wider than normal. I did deadlifts for years and noticed my obliques and waist was getting wide, even at 160 lbs or so. I have dropped deadlifts out of my routine for a couple months now and my waist has shrunk considerably. I went from wearing 32-33 waist jeans to wearing 31 with a 30 belt that falls off of me. I don't care what anyone says, for me personally I know for a fact that deadlifts widened my waist.
