Is it gripping the Axle, or the actual pull itself?

its the pulling. have an injury that always precluded me from deadlifts. it's minor but it is something i have to watch. i just need to build my confidence and my pulling base....mostly my confidence.

Everything is mental! Time to blast through that mental block!
looking forward to getting back to some event training this week.
friday was chest/tris-overall great workout. concentrating on closegrip and weighted dips for tri's to help me with my lockout in the bench.
sat-tested for a snatch and clean and jerk 1 rm. Form felt so much better with the snatch even though my max stayed the same. C&J was really good and hit a clean max at 225. for me it is really trying to nail the transition between the clean and the jerk that determines my success in the lift.
i then went on to hit back/bi's in the gym.
the guys i train with have not done events because they had a competition this week. We should be starting back up soon and I am itching to get back into the events.

Stick with the light weights then and focus on form.
Then when its time to flip the KILL switch...do it bro.

Truth.
Its like getting into a Car Accident and getting to drive your car for the first time after.
You have to build confidence and get over that fear.
Catching up on your thread, looking good in here man. I finally found a gym and I am starting my strongman training tomorrow! I have to ease in to it until the gym owner is confident I know how to use it which is understandable. Tomorrow shit gets serious for me, maybe next year I can hit the DE strongman contest. Everything is looking good man, I wish you the best of luck.
Testing the waters on something new for me here. this goes into my trying to break through that deadlift block as well and concerns my olympic lifting training. this is called the Outlaw Way.
Phase #1 of Off-Season Strength & Conditioning is over. Our first six weeks hopefully provided either a new comfort level with the fast lifts, or at least enough exposure, volume, and technical work to be able to handle a fairly rigorous and intensive second phase. We’ll be following a somewhat similar progression to the last phase, but will only be using pulling blocks once per week during this cycle. Also, instead of breaking the lifts into different days and only performing them together on Saturdays, we will be performing both lifts almost every day; with percentage work on Mondays, block work on Tuesdays, power versions on Wednesday, and maximal/full versions coming every Saturday (Fridays will have added squat work plus accessories) . We’ll be adding more squatting—with a focus on the Front and High-Bar versions—and will be continuing the accommodating resistance work we’ve been doing on the Deadlift.
Basically: more fucking strong, more fucking fast, more fucking power, more fucking awesome.

Outlaw is the same program that Ryan Riess uses here at Imperial.
He fuckin LOVES it and has made great gains on his Power Clean and Snatch at a lower BW.

awesome to hear. cant wait to see how this helps me...
Continuing to pound out the cleans. I hit my first ever squat clean on Monday. I know this is the technique that I have been missing, and can't wait to see the weight go up.
Monday
Hit shoulders at the gym, and then went to crossfit to hit my cleans
worked up to 225 power cleans with a front squat and then saw 245 just sitting on a bar.
So I pulled and was surprised at how high I pulled it.
I pulled again and felt my wrists roll over for the catch, but missed it out front because of leaving my elbows short
I went back to my bar at 185 and hit a near perfect squat clean. It was the first time that I ever pulled myself under the bar.
Tuesday
Hit chest/tris at the gym pretty standard stuff as i am just getting the volume in here.
Thursday
Straight to crossfit to hit cleans. Worked up to 225 but found that as the weight increased I kept standing up more.
Back to 185 to hit the form....again near perfect. Kept at this to make sure I can repeat this at the heavier weight.
Box jumps to 24 inch box
Ryan's KBJ's (Kettle Bell Jumps) with various KB's (up to about 35lbs)
Axle deads 5@225, 5@275, 3@315, and 3@365
Grip work-Plate flips forwards and backwards
Axle Bar pullups (shoved the bar through a set of rings) and just tried to hang on....hard...very hard!

Nice work Mattman.

Killing it man, nice work. Do you think the crossfit helps out w/ Strongman? The gym I am at does it on Friday and I was thinking about doing it on Friday's
