If you're that worried about how much you're lifting then maybe you still aren't serious about this...?
There's a guy in my gym who keeps saying "C'mon man, you should be able to lift more than that." Yeah - I am able to lift more than that - but what does that matter? I could throw it up and hit a few partial reps like he does, but what does that accomplish? I don't have time to be wasting on that.
Not bashing partials - but every set this guy does is partials and he's made very few (if any) gains in the last 2 years.
Hard work, consistency, good rest and loads of food. If you're doing that and still stuck at low weights your form might be lacking or you're not pushing as hard as you thought you were.
