yeah I'm feeling great so far...finished up the week solid, did 325 for sets of 5 really easy on military press, no spot so did a somewhat deadpress from just below the starting height...speed band bench work, etc.
Legs are...coming...not as fast as before but it's been a while with the surgery, etc.
chest went well, did 635 for a double...almost, got second rep almost to the top but touched a tad high on chest so probably would've gotten it otherwise.
After that did iso static presses for 6 sec superset with 495 plus heavy band for closegrip doubles...sucked..
dips with 315 sucked bad, very heavy, few reps in I felt ears pop, got dizzy, nauseous, and almost threw up...every time...so I dropped down and did 6 plates, then overhead tricep extensions with a cambered bar with 225.
Ok so seems like people aren't really posting on the forum lately but been having some great workouts. Back and legs have tapered down to prevent injuries and conserve while still working important groups, so for example I'm doing deadlifts for sets of 5 with 405, and then doing bentover rows with 405 for sets of 5...so there's that.
Lately on chest, I've done a progression up to a 661 which was quick, didn't slow down despite a slightly uneven unrack, but can't complain as they stayed solely to help me and I had no one else. Despite it being an non air conditioned gym and middle of the day in florida, tired from waiting on a spot, and then a gym lift which are usually not as great for me, it still moved faster than the last time in the meet so I should be good for at least a 680ish in a week and a half, then about 6 to 8 weeks later probably hit another and blast 700 away. that's the plan at least so we'll see how it goes.
So, I'm back to the light week for peaking for this show, weights are significantly less and then a deload few days...then game time.
so meet is a few days away, I'm not a huge fan of huge water drops so I'm sitting around 246 now and will be down to 242 within a day or two. So...these are the plans for this show as well as upcoming...
685 at 242 this show, minimum
701+ at 242 show after, approx. 8 weeks, give or take
660 at 220...hard diet after the second show, I'm good at it from bodybuilding...
2220 total at 242
then after that, bump the 275 record of 675 up a tad...too close to the 242...
Thats the plan, hopefully for all in this year so we'll see...have some work to do but huge lifestyle changes are definitely helping my situation.
So, it's been since right around the Vietnam War since I've posted...tons have happened, and I'll write more tomorrow...as it's 1:25am here...but about to do a show, then be at the cage, then immediately after that another show...then it's back to full power...so middle of the year, the plan is...well I'll get into that later....
Alright...so summing things up quickly...then I'm lifting back and will post when I finish, but did a show, was a "getting back into the groove" show and felt ok, better than I thought and ended up getting 672.4...which got a few people upset as the fed I lifted in had no start command, so I'm doing a USPA meet in 4 weeks that has one to eliminate that. I was feeling great, then strained lat, but took forever to figure out what it was...as it hurt my front delt...radiated, confusing shit. So I was getting weaker, had to take time off, etc but got it fixed and back at it and getting stronger fast.
I had chest day 2 nights ago and hit a quick 645 with a long start command to make sure I'm used to the breathing after the start command goes vs just on the liftoff. Then hit some iso presses 2 inches from lockout for 6 seconds superset with speed bench triples at 545
whole workout was:
flat bench
135
245
335
445
535
605x1
645x1
645x1
iso press superset speed bench
bar/545x3 x 3
weighted dips with pause at top
100x5
200x5
300x5
db flys
50x3x12
then some other accessory work.
Feeling great and back at it, the goals I have set, which I'm not making too...too public, are:
701 bench at 242
665 bench at 220
2220 total at 220
that's the goal for this year so I'm on track now...hopefully stay that way.
today...off day...tired, didn't sleep hardly at all, so rest, ligher leg workout tomorrow, son's soccer games all over FL on Sunday and then back to heavy chest again Monday, which is 3 weeks out...
thanks, was actually not feeling it to be honest, was almost 9:30pm, long day, hungry, a tad shaky on handoff and got off balance a tad but was happy it still went up like it did. I usually do much better in meets so we'll see what I have in 18 days
ok so chest day, last heavy one before show and went up to a fast 625 with long start command and paused, felt great...
after that was some iso static presses and speed doubles with 500, few dips and called it. I have a light back workout tomorrow, light shoulders thursday, light legs friday, then off the weekend, deload meet prep phase and rest wed, thurs, and friday...almost here.
