      J-HO's Travels

      Alright, here we go, post one on here. Training with Josh Bryant, excellent coach so not really able to post entire workouts as that's his bread and butter...but will hit some highlights and some videos from time to time.

      Was doing deads a few weeks ago, took about 3 months off because I had one bench show after another it seemed, but was back at it and either popped my rib or cartilage or something, so legs and back are on hold for at least another week. However, I am able to hit chest hard and speed chest, shoulder and tricep day.

      I've never really done bands a lot, especially reverse bands but I was able to get 815 for a few singles which felt approximately like an awkward 725ish...? So definitely getting stronger on there, just need the legs and back to the same and I'm golden. However, not slowing down, going harder. I'm having a baby in March so May...June sometime, I want 730. No if's, and's, or but's...

      I've got a boat load of questions but I'm going to throw these two out first. First question, if you are getting ready for a Bench Show, do you still keep Dead Lifts in the scheme of your workouts or do you back them off till after your show? Second question, is it better to do standing or seated shoulder work (or is it best to mix it up). My understanding is standing shoulder work incorporates the core as well where seated focuses more on shoulders. Which is better or is this just splitting hairs?

      Basically the smart, intelligent people of the world are waiting to have kids, working on careers, etc. The "not so bright" population are having kid after kid after kid...and its the degeneration of the world and great minds over the next 500 years. Luke Wilson goes into the future and is deemed the smartest guy in the world and elected to government...etc...it's funny but sad how true it really is...happening now and we just shrug it off...

      Thanks man! Alright, before a show, usually about 4 weeks out, deadlifts tend to drop off. A few weeks before that they'll get lighter but don't want to overload CNS, risk injury, etc while deadlifting if I'm only benching. I still train back, dead stop bent over rows, pulldowns, etc but deads fall off.

      Yes...standing will incorporate the core more, seated focuses on the muscle being worked. A good mixture of, in my opinion, 65%/35%, more seated is good for me. The core is worked in almost all bodyparts being worked, even stupid stuff like cable tricep pushdowns. Just work on balance and once it's there, blow them all up.
