We just went to a NPC natural show in Vancouver last weekend. A couple of friends were competing. It was a good time. That may be an option for you.
Leaning towards doing the NPC Washington State Iron Man, it's generally held in the fall/late summer timeframe. (Plus it's usually held at the Snoqualmie Casino so I could hit the buffet afterwards. *LOL*)
I may try one last run, but it wouldn't be until at least summer/fall 2018... But currently... It's because my wife voluntold me to do a 5k mud run/obstacle course with her, for her birthday. I don't need paramedics and vultures following me. *LOL*
Haha! Well, that's as good of a reason as any.
"Ask yourself this: if everyone else is training once per week, what are you doing that's so different that you would expect to get better results than anybody else? You might have good genetics, be tough enough and disciplined enough to train hard... but so are a lot of people." - BOSS
"I think I must be overtraining"... no, you're just a pussy - Machine
After a long and serious discussion with my wife, it is more than likely that I will do one more show. I've got some unfinished business on my list, and competing in a NPC show is on it.
I generally do what the voices in my wife's head tell me to do. It's far safer for me and allows me to sleep with both eyes closed. *LOL*
Usually that is the best bet, and I'm not too proud to admit it.

So, for the next few weekends, I will be bringing my wife on base to go through some of the obstacle courses on base to prep for our 5k obstacle course mud run. I don't think she knows what she's in for. *LOL*
Training is still ongoing, but a bit sporadic as of late. I've been taking some Army Leadership Development courses, so I can eventually take over a clinic administrator job. The grind and the hustle still continue, mentally and physically.

Gotta love leadership development courses. I found out I get to retake one from the beginning. It was originally in Blackboard, but now is in ALMS. If you took the blackboard one, you only had X amount of months to go to a school afterwards. If you didn't get slotted for that school. you have to start over again on the new course through ALMS... I'm so excited...

I've done the Managers course, Risk Management Civilian, Basic Leadership, and The Supervisor Development Course, through ALMS. Tomorrow and Friday, I'm in a classroom for Arbinger training, and in June I'll be in a classroom for Crucial Conversations. After that, it depends on federal budgeting as to what classes I can attend. Glad I got to skip the Foundation Course.

That's my thing right now, the budget. I'll have to go to Advanced Leadership and then Senior Ldrshp. I also am trying to get slotted for another school too (took the operator level last year, trying to get Master now). But it'll all come down to budget

I had funding, up until a month ago. Now I have to re-submit for the degree program.
The Obstacle Course/Mud Run has been postponed indefinitely, due to them not having secured the spot that they were told they had. So, back to regular training for me. If they ever reschedule it, fine, but I'm not holding my breath. Haven't heard a word from them, since the date of the event passed. So... Might as well think about the future...
Been doing a LOT of thinking and soul-searching. I had pretty much lost all passion and drive for almost everything. That being said, I've opted to push forward and do a show next fall. The 2018 NPC Ironman. It's a show I've attempted to do a couple of times. but just never made it onstage. So I'll be working like hell, and keeping myself accountable. "It can't rain all the time."

That's awesome! Where's the iron man? I'm doing the little creek show in November. Masters classic physique.
So... Been a crazy past few months. Still dealing with my family's health issues, but got a new reason to train seriously. I got the opportunity work a haunted house last year. However, my severe lack of shape prevented me from enjoying that to the fullest, plus hitting the big 5-0 next month adds a little push. So for the past couple of months I've finally been training seriously. Size an strength are slowly coming back, but the gut remains. However, it wasn't built in a day, nor will it go away in a day either. Hopefully, I'll finally be able to be around a bit more. Hope everyone is doing well.
Yes... Still alive, and still training... Reasons for training have shifted, however... Now I train to be at my best each October, for the haunted house I work at during that month. 4 hours a night of sprinting, squats, and lunging at people. Good times... Hope everyone is doing well.
