Up to a 90k double with jerk. I think this is maxed out for now - tried 95k and missed. Going to take a break, then many pushups on Sunday then pick a snatch variation for Monday.

Jerks were not there today. Going to finish this clean cycle but I think doing two snatch variations back to bac (after a clean / press) was an error. Then a day off and then work on my pressing again

I was on the rowing crew in high school. I used to love 500m sprints. My math teacher lived in a neighboring city and his son was my age. I knew him well because we all rowed out of the same boat club. The 2 of us were in a fundraiser event where one event was a 500m sprint. I was pushing it hard and my ass lifted off the seat and I lost it. His son still only beat me by a couple seconds. He knew I would have won, and razed me in class constantly for it. He was fun about it. One of my favorite teachers. A rowing machine would kill my old ass now. Props to you for going after it hard.

Nice! I hate running / treadmills / crosstrainers for cardio but I have to recognise I am now past my mid 30s and long-term health has to factor. I love rowing as it taxes your upper and lower body (rather than cycling) and you can do it indoors (British weather etc etc)
Am going between 500m sprints and 2k rows when I do them. Probably will compete at some point when I'm not quite as out of shape!
-----------
22/7/20
Hip power clean / hang power clean / clean and jerk
30 / 45 / 55 / 65 / 75 / 82.5
87.5 - didn't jerk
Max pushups
67 in first set (big PR) - 23 / 10 to finish the hundred off.
Nice.
Going to go for a max hip clean today I think - we'll see how it goes.

Any hints / tips on building up the rowing? I really struggle to get a rhythm and have read you have to be able to do specific 'strokes per minute' - I just tend to want to row faster and faster and get knackered on longer rows!

Are you on any social media? Always nice to put a face with a name.
I'll dig out some pics. I am 6 ft 1 and currently between 96 and 97kg bodyweight.
I just really haven't gotten into cardio much since I started lifting - I've tended to train quickly and use that to build my work capacity (lifting EMOMs, timed sets etc etc). However, as I say, I'm becoming an old fart rapidly and some kind of low impact full body cardio sounds amazing!
----------
26/7
Heavy pushups
Warmed up then
BW + 30k - 5 every 30 seconds.
Made it to about 65 then did BW x 15, rested a minute and hit BW + 15k for 10, 5, 5, 5 to finish.
All done in 10 minutes
Then a 1k row in 5 minutes. Nothing spectacular but highlighted my need to pace myself!

We trained our asses off doing calisthenics and ran about 5 miles a day. On the water in the morning and the road after school. We did do some weights though. The 2 things we really focused on were timed. We laid on a wooden bench, more like a saw horse, and rowed 75 lb bar for as many reps as we could get in a minute. The other thing was like a deadlift while standing on a box so we could reach our toes. You deadlifted into an upright row for as many as you could for a minute. I was in crazy awesome shape when I was 18.

For longer rows, get into a rhythm. Once in a while hit a “hard 10” or 20. Just pull as hard as you can for 10 reps. Kinda like HIIT. Basically short sprints in a long race

Thanks for the advice!
Last night I did a minute at 20SPM, 22SPM, 24SPM, 26SPM, 28SPM and back down again using a metronome (being a musician, I just happened to have one lying around) and you really do rack up the distance in a much more controlled fashion. Got to 1k in under 5 minutes and felt much better than the previous time I tried!
This was after snatches
- hip / high hang / paused from floor
30 / 30 / 40 / 50 / 57.5 / 62.5
Paused at knee from floor
55k for 10 singles in quick succession.
