Hey Guys! Well, looked up the FAQs and saw that I cannot drop bodyfat and increase muscle mass simultaneously. Gotta choose. I am 52, 6'1", 300# and 30%BF. I am in the gym 6 days a week. I recently freed up funds for food by cutting out all non-essentials: Internet, TV, home phone, etc. I expect to eat well and clean to build muscle.
Now for the big question: I am interested in competitive bodybuilding. Obviously, dropping bodyfat is key. So, I can think of two approaches: 1) work on dropping bodyfat to the desired percentage, then build up muscle; or 2) Stay at my current weight, build as much muscle as I can and use that increase in metabolism to get rid of the bodyfat.
My question is: Which is the better approach?
I wanted to ask a non-competition bodybuilder who works at my gym what he would think. But, unless I pay $3000 per year for twice a week training, he won't talk to me. On SSDI, ain't gonna happen. But, he does have the look I am going for: large muscles, vascularity and cut lean.
Let me know what you guys think. Much appreciated!
