I am a believer in staying with the same movements for a while and progressively overloading them. Let´s say I am doing 5 exercises for chest. 4 of those remain the same. The last one is free to choose every time. I, of course, write everything down in a training log. Otherwise this approach wouldn´t make any sense...
After some time, maybe around 10 training sessions for a body part, my progress slows down, and the exercises are also starting to grow stale. That´s when I make changes. Switching from barbell to dumbbell presses for example.
I totally agree. Progressive overload is the way to go.
Don´t overthing this shit too much brother. Just push as hard as you can every time.
