Fat grips are awesome, fat bars are better (but not cost effective at all). Train the fuck out of them man, dont use straps on anything if you want big forearms. Use kb's for shrugs if you can, frankly use kettlebells for anything you can. Kettlebells work your forearms hard on any exercise, especially kb front squats or kb presses.
I just did FST7 with db wrist curls.. And that's something I'm going to stick with.
