What is 'The Pump?'
I remember taking to my boy CT Fletcher once about this. Wow, a few years back now. We where talking about, 'shocking the muscle' using high volume training. Where he has used both types of training methods over the years, having also been obviously a Powerlifter. He being an old barstard now lol (Its alright i can say that his a friend) now favours 'Hight reps' as appose to the heavy 1 rep max that he use to train for. But yeah we got talking about 'The Pump'.
We've all heard of it yeah? But the truth is... Not many people really understand what 'The Pump' actually is. Sure the have an idea, i mean on a 'Chemical level' but...
Any true bodybuilder...(i say 'True bodybuilder' as in someone who has successfully built on their body! You know i mean drastically altered the shape and size of there body)... will know that growth dose not come as a result of 'The Pump". Growth is caused as a result of the 'Process' that happens after you get 'The Pump'. Not during.
The pump is like 'A Door bell'. A door bell to 'The Process of Growth' which would be in this example 'The Door'. The Pump is a 'Sign' a like a door bell which lets you know that you know that your at the door. That your approaching that point where your about to enter that 'Growth Process'. Its a physical signal to let you know your 'Close' not 'There'. Ok.. You you rep till it burns.. You carry on for a few more sets and eventually you get The Pump'. But that doesn't mean you stop there, job done, leave the gym cause I'm gonna be over training! Lol omg no! You carry on!!!
Thats where the growth happens thats when it comes. After the pump! This is why Pro's always say,"you got push through that pain barrier.."
Which is ultimately those reps during and after getting 'The Pump. This is where the saying comes from, "The growth is in the last rep" and why we are also told to lift to failure.
Bro if your serious about GROWING then you got to train for 'Growth' and not for The Pump.
Thanks guys
