So are we training for powerlifting, or just strength/size in general?

So are we training for powerlifting, or just strength/size in general?
I just want my Deadlift & Standing Overhead Press to be as strong as possible, at my age I'm not trying to get much bigger.
Thrown in the mix will be things that help me build those lifts: Farmers Walks, Sled Dragging, Zercher Squats, etc...
