      Protein Shakes and soy lecithin

      Hello all,

I've been recently reading pretty bad things about soy lecithin, I mostly started researching it because I heard it increases your estrogen levels. I also notice the most of the protein shakes I drink contain it, including Animal Whey.

Is it really that bad for you? A lot of these sites talk about the negative side effects and then promote a "healthy" protein drink.

Just trying to get the facts straight before I purchase my resupply.

      Thanks!

Depending on the studies you read, there will be good and bad, like most products or additives. You can also look up a study that shows Soy Lecithin helps increase a lot of good things. To me it seems the "good" out weigh the "bad" As for the estrogen increase I think the level of Soy Lecithin is way lower than to be worried about. Like most studies you wont know exactly what it does without testing for yourself. I personally have never noticed a negative to it being in my protein. I use both Animal Whey and Universal Whey daily. Here is a link to a good quick over view on the subject. https://healthifybody.com/benefits-of-lecithin.html

I agree with you. I've been drinking protein with soy lecithin for years and as far as I can tell, I haven't noticed any side effects. Thanks for the reply and link, I will check it out!

It gets you slowly over time. I use many Universal/Animal products but never their proteins. I once asked Jay if they would switch to Sunflower lecithin because of no ill effects and many companies are starting to use it. Advertising soy free is very popular, juuuuuuuuust sayin if any Animal peeps see this =)

Try to cut it out as much as you can. Soy is a culling weapon used to lower the testosterone levels of males, this has been extensively covered. Ever notice how they try to put soy in EVERYTHING you buy at the grocery stores these days?

Very interesting, thanks for your input. I think I'll try and find some protein without it the next time around. I usually try and buy something that has a cheaper cost per serving size. But something that can damage you over time shouldn't be ignored. When I heard about Animal Whey, and watched their videos expressing they used the top ingredients, I was surprised to see soy in the list. Honestly I didn't bother checking before I made the purchase because I figured it wasn't in there.

Oh well, I guess I'll have to see what I can dig up!
