A question I get asked a lot is, should I eat carbs at breakfast (first meal)? A very vague question, but lets answer it.
The best time to eat carbs is pre/post workout. This is when your body uses the food for energy rather than storing as fat. As you progress towards your goal (bulk/shred) you can determine how your body is responding and make changes accordingly. The first meal of the day (or breakfast) isn't the best time to consume carbs unless you train early. I typically like to exclude carbs throughout the day until close to my training. This will force your body to use fat for energy and if the fat you consume is used up, then body fat will be converted to energy (fat burning). A quick answer to an arguable question.
