You find the girl of your dreams, she loves everything about you except for your obsession with the iron she finally says I'm done taking a back seat, cut back training to a few hours a week or I'm gone....what do you do, WHAT DO YOU DO!
So this is what I would answer that type of woman with.
I would then invite her to a Bible study and focus on that portion of the book of Timothy that addresses exercise vs Godliness. And I would tell her that from that moment forward I will more thoroughly evaluate my motives for my intense physical pursuits and immediatly focus on a more eternally beneficial activity. I would admit my obsession with the weights, thank her for noticing that I was taking things into a fanatical direction and invite her to participate in both activities....physical training and spiritual study.
If for some reason she was offended at my taking things into a spiritual direction.....then I simply dump her.

In the scenario that I constructed, the man admitted that perhaps the gym was all consuming and he immediately took things into a spiritual direction. This would bring balance into a life and relationship.
And, for me, at least, if a woman was turned off by the subject of GOD or spiritual fitness...then it would be a clear sign, for me, to drop her like heavy dumbbells upon reaching failure.
But what I don't understand is how a woman is attracted to and begins to date a weightlifter....but somehow demands that the very activity that makes the man physically attractive to her somehow be dialed down.
The only scenario I see any scale back request being valid is if a woman begins to notice a bad health trend developing in the man she loves and if steroids are involved to make a push to go natural. Especially if there is a honorable marriage involved and if, uh, "performance" begins to become an issue. Then, perhaps, I could see a request being made to scale things back . And then maybe a legitimate life & health concern could be cited out of genuine care.
Other than that if a mere dating relationship seeks too much time to the detriment of physical and, more importantly, spiritual health....then its time for her to go in my opinion.

I cut back the workout... I turn into an animal and run from lift to lift until total exhaustion and then I go home to me queen. I was thinking you meant cut lifting out completely for her. I would not do that because in my mind I would be thinking that she wanted me to die faster and collect by insurance.

GIVE THAT MAN A CEE-GAR! Bean I once blew off an engagement to a wonderful girl, because too many people were in her ear. Obsessed indeed!

I would say goodbye! For that is the start of her running all over you for the rest of your life in marriage. I mean come on. What relationship do you know where the man rules the roost? Esp in their 30s? Very very rare. If the relationship starts like that then you are going to be a doormat! Why would anyone want you to stop what makes you happy?
All starts with cut sessions back until no sessions are allowed. I was actually married once to someone like that. WORST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE! Now I have a dream girl!

I always support people getting better by the day in all aspects of life. That is why the question is so hard to understand, why would someone want you to hold yourself back especially if they care about you. The two parts don't add up.

100% AGREE! Not to mention woman generally are manipulative and want control. EVERY SINGLE one of my friends who are married now (8+ years) have started out 50/50 and now they have no say almost. Woman love control. LOL I sound like a woman hater but it is the truth. Of course not all are like that but at least 80%
Would you quit training if you knew it would cost you a serious relationship?
"By Felicia!" No one should ever have to quit what they love doing for someone. That is not real love and NOT a relationship I will ever be in! That is just control. FUCK THAT!

are a fucking mad man!! I love it!! Go Tuttle...Go Tuttle...Go Tuttle
She's either going to love who I am or she is not. I'm either going to love who she is, or I'm not. Things change and we all have to accept that and move on.

True though! I was married once to a nightmare. Who made me quit. I was not BB for almost 2 years. Miserable. Failed marriage. Even the marital counselor said, "you met him when he was bodybuilding so the acceptance was there." If I had started it after being together it would have been different. She was in the wrong.
