For 10 years of BBer training I didn't do much barbell work because everyone was convinced DB's and machines were better. My chest was okay. Now I get into Powerlifting for 5 years and do nothing but barbell work, my chest grows to 51-52"! Now that I'm back to BBer style training, the Bench work simply makes my pecs grow. Like you said, I've found a connection with Barbell Pressing and it seems to continue to work for me.

I know you agree, Chris.
Meh!

"Doing something different" doesn´t necessarily mean executing other exercises every workout.
That extra rep you get or that additional 2.5 pound plate you put on IS something different from what you have been doing previously.
One could be doing nothing but 3-4 exercises for a muscle group their whole life and still get as good a result as someone who has access to a gym (like Bev´s) with 20 machines to hit every possible angle. I´m convinced of this.
Funny how everyone always seems to come back to the basic, compound movements =)

Correct, Do what what is best for you. Most important sometimes is not the movement that makes the difference but HOW YOU DO IT.

I think the HOW is always more important than the what in exercises.
I´m sure I could get more out of a cable fly by putting all my focus, intensity and mind muscle connection in it than someone else doing a half assed barbell bench.

I agree 100%. Too many guys out there just fling around weights and than you watch them grabbing their shoulders from joint pain, LOL! Numbnuts, they're everywhere except for The Dungeon. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

WAY TOO MANY train like that and think they do not. I get it all the time. Telling my clients they need to train like a bodybuilder and they say they do. Then watching videos of their training TELLS a totally different story.

I record some of my sets to check my form and range of movement. It is amazing what the camera will catch and the honesty it shows
Who doesn't love the pump..my arms were so pumped last night I had to wait to drive home because I was having issues grabbing and holding the steering wheel.

LOVE when that happens! Always happens to me on Chest/Tri's & Shoulders/Bi's training days.
HAHHAH. Or when you get home and have to take a shower. Cannot wash my hair at all.
I cant even get home to shower.im still stuck at the gym struggling to put my hoodie on. We all know that feeling and love to bitch about it because we know it happened because we just put in some serious work that we are proud of.

AHHAHHA yup! The worst is when you have to do something physical. I had to tread water for 20 mins for a Scuba cert test and I almost drown because my arms pumped up so much HHAHA
Arm days for me would consist of at least 18 sets of Bi's and a minimum of 20 sets for triceps. I also included 10 sets of forearms. On the days when I would totally go ape shit on them I couldn't wipe my ass, hold a steering wheel, reach in my pocket to get my car keys or wave good bye to anyone for at least a half hour after!

AHHAH Sheesh! After all of that your arms feel like a tick! Esp after adding forearm work.
